The Compulsive Lying of Tony Blair

The UK public and half the world were baffled by the claims that Tony Blair made in front of the Iraq Inquiry on Friday 29th January. He mentioned that the 9/11 attacks changed his view on Iraq. I'm sure it did. However, he failed to really explain how and why his mind changed and towards what mindset. Nor did the committee challenge him on the issue.
Is it any wonder that the UK public has demanded three Iraq inquiries, given that they are simply not happy with the answers they were getting from their leaders? After all, it’s not just their money they are paying for a war that they never wanted, it is their blood too.
He was also not challenged on the detail of how Saddam Hussein was a significant and valid “terrorist threat”, especially when Britain had accepted that he had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.
Regardless of his weak acknowledgement of the divisions of war that he had caused, which was followed by an equally weak verbal recognition of the responsibility of 1 million Iraqis killed; 5 million internally displaced; 2 million women that are widowed; 5 million children made orphans, it was not enough to keep the UK public at bay. The proceeding of Mr Blair in the inquiry was treated with steely focused silence that was sandwiched by ambient public heckling. Names such as “liar” and “warmonger” were amongst the more plain of insults of the many colourful names that he received. The public are used to the pretence of his integrity that he is so strenuous in playing, and evidently they saw right through him.
And it is no surprise, with the public already in serious discontent with the war and the lies that they are constantly being told, they wanted to see just how much audacity the likes of Mr Blair has. What they saw was that the “Tony Blair of today is the same as the Tony Blair of yesterday.” And everyone was left gagging with the sick taste of injustice, deceit and insult.

Don't you love watching them squirm?
Submitted by Nightcrawler on Sun, 31/01/2010 - 12:28pm.Sweaty palms and nervous speech, wow I've never seen Blair so vulnerable before. Nothing different to when he was the PM, only this time the lies are much more transparent.
To be honest this whole Iraq Inquiry is too little too late, what's the point of having this inquiry after millions of people have already been slaughtered?
Our country shouldn't have gone to war, simple as, why are we meddling in other peoples' affairs? Is it any wonder why they hate us so much?
Hey Blair now that you're no longer the PM I've got a business prospect for you, A brand called Bush Puppies ;-), suitable for presidential shoe-throwing target practice.
Very apt, seeing as you were on his leash the whole time.
Now let's wait till the result of the Inquiry, I have very little hope that anything meaningful will be achieved, but hey here's to hoping.

Submitted by ShadowLite on Sun, 31/01/2010 - 1:32pm.We have seen over the past couple of years the British publish getting more agressive about accountability from their leaders. I just hope it doesnt lax, it would be good for our democracy.

Submitted by Daud Ingham on Mon, 01/02/2010 - 10:56am.We need to remember this is just an enquiry. He is not on trial. All the talk of illegality of war is just going to get swept under the carpet unless the people demand justice.
What is the point of having laws if you do what you want when you want and then change the laws afterwards to make your actions legal.
What is interesting to note from tis enquiry though, is that Ld. Goldsmith was adamant that it was illegal without a second UN resolution but Jack Straw is the one who convinced him to go to Ameriaca and find justification for it. The same Jack straw that the Blackburn Muslims sell their souls to for a mosque extension or a Visa application for their relatives.

It's quite evident that this was never a just war it was unjust and in the face of injustice, justice must be served.
We don't need any more inquiries we need send these criminals straight to the Hague!
