Action Alert: Israel Bombs Gaza Again

MPACUK Action Alert!

Israel has attacked the Gaza Strip for the second night in a row, bombing the Strip’s disused airport and targeting tunnels used to bring in much needed goods including food and medicines, into the Gaza Strip.

Israel claims these tunnels are also used for smuggling weapons.

Israel has been responsible for numerous sporadic attacks against Gaza since Operation Cast Lead ended in January 2009, and since then has killed 88 Palestinians according to figures released by the UN.

On Thursday 18 March, a rocket was fired from Gaza into Israel killing a Thai worker on a Kibbutz.

Israel claims that its latest bombing is in retaliation to this, ignoring its own bombing campaign causing Palestinian deaths in the preceding year.

“All deaths that are arising due to this conflict are equally inexcusable, and it is time for the international community to put pressure on Israel to stop its sporadic bombing campaigns against the people of Gaza, who have known little peace since 2006” stated Ismail Patel, Chair of Friends of Al-Aqsa.
