Imam Anwar al Awlaki has been banned from addressing a fundraising dinner after a lobbying campaign accusing him of extremism. The Observer reports that politicians and 'anti-exremist' groups pressed the local council to ban his video-link address from the event at Kensington Town Hall.
There is no suggestion that any law against incitement to violence or hate has been violated but yet again the right to free speech doesn't seem to apply to Muslims. But it's no surprise that politicians can silence an Islamic speaker they don't like when Muslims simply don't get involved in politics!
