Another Speaker Banned

Sheikh Haitham Al Haddad

The Zionists have once again struck, by getting Sheikh Haitham Al Haddad banned from the London School of Economics. The tragedy is that the LSE Student Union has passed strong policies to stop Islamophobia as well as anti-Semitism on campus. Yet, it seems that this motion has clearly been abused by the Jewish Society of LSE to ban Sheikh Al Haddad, a society which has connections to the Zionist UJS (Union of Jewish Students).

It seems that Sheikh Al Haddad has recently been at the centre of attacks from many organisations and individuals that are Islamophobic, both intrinsically and extrinsically. One such show which caused sensations was Panorama’s British Schools, Islamic Rules. Popular Islamophobic blog, Harry’s Place also attempted a character assassination on the Sheikh. The question is, why on earth is there such an attempt to remove him? Indeed the media quote him without mentioning the full context, as well as cutting and pasting quotes in their attacks against him. So what is is it about him that is getting the Islamophobes so worked up?

The answer lies in the fact that he openly tries to encourage Muslims to get politically active, and this is the very thing that Islamophobes fear. The last thing a Zionist wolf wants is for the Muslim community to become politically strong and unite against the oppressive policies of the government. Due to this reason, they also want to ban Sheikh Zahir Mahmood, who also advocates boycotting of Israeli goods, as well as other speakers who they label as hate speakers. Why? It is because they advocate freedom for Palestinians, which according to their definitions, is terrorism or these speakers try to empower the Muslim community.

It is funny how these people do not complain about ‘radical ideas’ from other speakers, such as Richard Dawkins who attacked Muslim faith schools. He is connected to militant atheists such as Pat Condell and yet, there seems to be no restrictions on him. Furthermore, the Union of Jewish Students is openly recruiting terrorists to join the IDF (Israel Defence Forces) which even according to British Law, is illegal and yet there is no commotion whatsoever.

The ban on Muslim speakers such as Sheikh Haitham Al Haddad and Dr. Zakir Naik is nothing whatsoever to do with the content of their talks. Why is someone abhorrent like Nahum Shifren allowed into this country and yet, speakers like Dr. Zakir Naik are banned from the UK?

This is only as a result of failure from the Muslim community, who, as opposed to uniting together with academic, social, political are media connections, are too busy arguing with each other about which sects are correct, to the point that we celebrate when one of our brethren is banned, because he/she is from the ‘wrong sect’.

This is also a massive failure of ISOCs too, because where they should have stepped in and had a strong lobby with their students union, they are too busy divulging in sectarian nonsense, to the point that at some university campuses, there are several ISOCs to represent the various sects.

It is only until we unite and have media, academic, social and political lobbies that we can overcome this kind of oppression, where speakers are banned due to dodgy allegations based half-truths and misquotes. We Muslims fail to understand that we live in a world where our rights are not guaranteed, no matter who claims to give them to us, until we struggle for them.

"Moral cowardice that keeps us from speaking our minds is as dangerous to this country as irresponsible talk. The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character."
