BBC World News recently aired a documentary, Our World: Sharia UK challenging some of the negative myths behind sharia.
However some right-wing individuals have been complaining to the BBC for airing the documentary. As usual they dislike hearing about anything positive regarding Muslims and would prefer to carry on pushing their anti-Muslim agenda.
We urge you to contact BBC World News (Tel: +44 (0)20 8433 2221) with positive feedback so that they would be encouraged to make more positive programmes about Muslims and won't fall to the pressure of Islamophobic views.

Some countries who strictly adhere to Shariah Law will kill and beat people who don't comply.
Since Shariah will never be implemented in Europe then I can't see why people should care - except on human rights angles such as stoning, amputations and hangings.

When the Muslims conquered Andalus (part of Spain) and southern Italy applied Shariah Law. This is part of europe isn't it?
If memory serves me right, the five aims of the Shariah are:
1. To protect the religion (Islam)
2. To protect one's life
3. To protect one's honour
4. To protect one's intelligence
5. To protect one's personal freedoms (within the bounds of Shariah)
Correct me if I am wrong. It's a long time since I heard this talk.

The phrase used was "Since Shariah will never be implemented in Europe then I can't see why people should care - except on human rights angles such as stoning, amputations and hangings."
This is a sentence that has a future tense. Your reply has a past tense. I can't see a Msulim army conquering any part of Europe in the future and imposing Shariah Law. So, the poster was correct.
After these conquests the Muslim rule was kicked-out and now Christianity is very strogly the religion of Spain and Italy - in fact very strongly Christian. That demonstrates Christianity is well placed to resist Islam.
Future Tense Past Tense
Submitted by Imran Zain on Wed, 18/11/2009 - 9:36pm.The poster wasn't correct, it was a matter of opinion as no-one can accurately say what is going to happen in the future except the Prophets who received revelation from Allah (The One God free from partners/associates and is not comparable to creation who is neither male or female).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the hour (meaning the Day of Judgement) is near when the Muslims will conquer Rome. At that time, Constantinople (Istanbul, Turkey) was not conquered and when the latter of the two cities (Istanbul and Rome) is conquered, then the Day of Judgement is near!
Aside from this, the point being is that the Shariah is beautiful when looked at in a deeper level. If anyone takes time to study it without prejudice then perhaps people will realise that it is more preventative than punative. Furthermore, there are conditions to the application of certain rulings before any penalties are given... And those conditions may not be met, therefore the penalty may not be applied.
Another noteworthy point to mention is that some devout Muslims who have sinned may in fact urge the judge to implement an Islamic ruling due to the fear of Allah which may alleviate the punishment in the next life,,, An incident like this occured at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when a person committed adultery.

If Sharia is beautiful when one looks at it deeply, why has it been rejected by those not born in countries which practise Sharia.
When one thinks of mandatory circumcision of both males and females - is that beautiful? When one sees women being stoned for adultery - is that beautiful? And before anyone objects I do have a copy of Umdat-al-Salik.
I cannot believe that in this day and age one would think Sharia is beautiful - is this because Christians and Jews would be dhimmis and it would be beautiful to have power over them - the deeper one reads of this legal system the more ugly non muslims find it. As they have done for centuries - why do you think they threw the muslims out of Europe in the first place?
Because of Sharia, no Islamic nation will sign up to the UN Declaration of Human Rights. Yet, they are the first to claim under these rights when they come to the west scared they will be killed for apostasy if the remain in their own land.
As an educated person, Imran, do really believe Sharia is beautiful? Preventative in a way, yes, but looking at places such as Somalia, Sudan, Yemen nothing has prevented muslims from killing their brothers in religion - where is the Sharia beauty in that?

"A 20-year-old woman divorcee accused of committing adultery in Somalia has been stoned to death by Islamists in front of a crowd of about 200 people.
A judge working for the militant group al-Shabab said she had had an affair with an unmarried 29-year-old man.
He said she gave birth to a still-born baby and was found guilty of adultery. Her boyfriend was given 100 lashes.
It is thought to be the second time a woman has been stoned to death for adultery by al-Shabab.
The group controls large swathes of southern Somalia where they have imposed a strict interpretation of Islamic law which has been unpopular with many Somalis. "

Sharia is fine if it protects the followers, but things such as informal wedding contracts being brought under Sharia is unlawful when the government considers children between two Muslims as illegitimate.
In a nutshell, no serious Muslim in the west wants Sharia for themselvs or others.

And mpack you love democracy so how can you say you love sharia because you cant have sharia with democracy as both have totally different views on life.

And by the way the story about al-shabab in smoalia stonning the girl to death was actually false if you would have read the rest of that weeks news you would have seen it.
