An Italian MP, Daniela Santanche called the Prophet S.A.W a "paedophile" during a TV debate with a Muslim leader and in front of a Muslim audience.

Now all say "Astaghfirullah" 10 times, Durood Sharif 20 times, get angry and then comfort yourself back to sleep again. Allah will come down and protect His Beloved from this slander and recurring insults.

Burn an Italian flag, organise a demo and then go home afterwards.

Muslims today really need to act and when we say "act" we don't mean any of the above. We need to start using intelligent and effective methods. We cannot limit ourselves to "astagfirullah's" and dua's.

As Muslims, when the Prophet S.A.W is maligned in such a way, if you don't feel fire inside your stomach urging you to take action then you're not good a Muslim.

The best and most effective solution is being given to you all. Understand that being politically active is a must and spread this message. Make it known to everyone that collective political action can free us from demonisation and oppression.

Stop the Prophet S.A.W being humiliated on national television.

Be a Muslim and take action.

The onset of puberty has only markedly changed in the developed countries with improved diet and the high level of growth hormones in water and food. At the time of the Prophet PBUH an under age girl would be incapable of reproduction and physically unready for sexual intercourse. It is profiundly troubling that those who subsequently editted the Quran allowed such assertions to be retained, if they were in fact made by the prophet in the first place. May I suggest that a man who marries a widow has likely little interest in prepubescent girls.

Q has stated the facts that the age of puberty has dropped over the centuries. In Mohammed's time Aisha would have been a very naive young child. Even at nine she would have been like a seven year-old today in terms of her sexual development.

By "grow up" you simply mean that a child would not have had schooling but might have learnt cooking and housekeeping. That is NOTHING to do with sexual maturity.

In truth we don't know whether the Quran has been subject to editing or not, Muslims believe that it has not.
As Muslims I think that we can reasonably look over to the Christian, and to a lesser extent Jewish, post-Enlightenment period when the Bible became subject to increasing scrutiny as a historical document. Christian scholars through analysis were able to determine how the New Testament had evolved, and they had the benefit of contemporary records that identified which Gospels had been excluded from the body of the NT. Puritanism and later Non-Conformism with its close romatic identification with the Israelites and in conjucntion with Jewish scholars looked again at the NT and realised that some of the stories of Jesus had been misunderstood by Christians who lacked the traditions of Jewish scholarship to identify the meaning.
Muslims have been resistant to this rational analysis of the Quran and in this they are similar to earlier Christians. However modern Christians apply to the Quran the same approaches as they would to their own divine texts and fail to appreciate the current sensitivities that Muslims have. But this challenge will continue and it is up to Muslims in the West to respond to it constructively. If not they will descend into denial and increasing social dysfunction.
If we assert that the Quran is a sacred text to be sheltered from challenge, then by extension we must extend the same to all other allegedly sacred texts. Something that we have been patently unwilling to do over the years.

I think, no, I know from the muslims I have met that many of them have no knowledge of their own history. All they know is what their parents have told them and what they have heard in the mosque. And they repeat it as Gospel!

When one know that 30% of muslims are illiterate, one can understand the ignorance of their religion.

There is a lot of Islamic history that educated muslims would prefer their less educated brothers did not know of. How many muslims who can read, actually read the Quran in a language they understand. Not many from my experience.

If non muslims say Islam did spread by the sword many muslims will instantly deny it because they have not read Islamic history - this is a major problem in Islamic society. The live in total ignorance of their own past.

Non muslims don't. From parents to school to university we learn how our socity has developed, warts and all. Not just the good things our leaders want us to know. But with so many mulims being illiterate, their clerics can indoctrinate with any old rubbish Islam has a problem - it cannot self critique and even in this day and age keeps its followers in an age of patriarchal rule with laws from the stone age when the rest of the world has moved on to live in a modern civilised society where science is above religion.

Noone denies that the Bible has been "corrupted" because of its many translations, but nor do we follow the barbaric tenets in the 'Old Testament' - that has beeen resigned to historical allegory and not suitable for the modern world. Wheras Islam still has an original text which muslims still follow despite it being obviously not suitable in the modern world.

Girls mature at different ages in different countries. In countries like India, many girls mature at 9 or 10 years. That means there reproduction cycle starts at that age. This is a medical fact well known to doctors. And very rare cases they even mature when they are 8 years age.

Does this mean anyone who marries a girl younger than 18 years is a peodophile? It is a man made law (and we know that man made laws are often crooked) in many countries that one cannot marry below 18 years. It is not God made law. God made women capable of having children at their age of maturity. That means they can marry once they mature.

If marrying girl below 18 years is a crime, then why are girls marrying at the age of 16 years in Texas. And because of this Texas law has reduced the minimum age when a girl can marry. In Texas it is legal to marry a girl above 14 years.
