'Women-friendly' Mosques Directory Launched

A directory of the 100 most women-friendly mosques in England has just been launched, claiming to be "the start of the process to broaden and deepen the engagement of Muslim women in British mosques". Guardian.co.uk

MPACUK would like to commend the 100 mosques in this directory. Four years ago, after the making of Women Only Jihad, some Muslims were up in arms at the fact that Mosque reform was on the agenda. But now we see Muslims everywhere recognising the issue as a serious one that must be tackled head on.

Every mosque should strive to be "women-friendly" and be aiming to improve each and every day. Let's hope to strive for a change. A change where in another 4 years every mosque is allowing women in through their doors.

MPACUK has three KEY demands:

1) That sisters be allowed to pray in the masjid when they want to, without hindrance.

2) That sisters should be allowed to sit on the committee's of the masjid and there should be no bar at all for the sisters to taking part in the decision making of the masjid.

3) That sisters should be allowed space to organise any of the community affairs within the masjid and space should always be provided for this.
