Lutalo Muhammad Kicking High in the Olympics

One good British Muslim role model to follow at the 2012 London Olympics is 21-year old Lutalo Muhammad who shall be competing in taekwondo, a Korean martial art. Born and raised in Stratford, London he learned taekwondo from his father Wayne and has wanted to compete in the Olympics since the Sydney Olympics of 2004. In 2012 alone, he has won three medals at the German and Dutch Open and scored gold at the European Championships and won a total of fourteen medals since 2008. With his relatively light weight and tall height of 1.88 metres, these two features pose as major advantages over his competitors.

Unfortunately, he has had to deal with the hate mail received when the selection committee chose Muhammad over Aaron Cook for the Olympics. However, he has consistently shown that the committee were not wrong to select him and we hope Insha Allah, that he’ll be able to take Team GB to gold.
