Birmingham Muslims Should Be Ashamed

If Birmingham Mosques and ISocs have proven anything it is that they have done nothing to help those who are being picked up and harassed by the police from within the community. Once again it shows that Muslim groups and leaders are the worst amongst us. All talk of Islam, but those words never travel further than their necks. Their hearts remain stone dead.
These Mosques and ISocs, and the scores of other so called Muslim groups in Birmingham, should be ashamed of themselves for having done nothing while Muslims brothers have been arrested, beaten and held for nothing more than selling a book that is legal within this country.
Could they not even have organised a campaign, a march, talks, a lawyer – even a damn visit to the family to see how their wives and children are coping would have been something, help them cope financially while their husbands were being questioned.
No, just another stupid Islamic circle to perfect themselves – to hell with those who suffer, just as long as you can wear leather socks and listen to a good lecture in their warm cosy Islamic circles, and argue with the next sect, or the next group about some trivial point of fiqh.
Abu Bakr, a worker in the Al-Maktaba book shop, is currently in custody and being questioned by the police for nothing more than selling a book called Milestones – can you believe it?
The widely known book by Sayid Qutb might have strong opinions of the author, but so has Mein Kampf and that is still sold in the UK and no one has been arrested. What about the BNP literature or the hate literature in the papers against Muslims? Not a single arrest.
Oh yes, Salman Rushdie taught us wicked Muslims that we shouldn’t shout too much when people write things that we do not like, because they all have a right to freedom of speech – well why is this any different?
Neither can they argue that this is different since it leads people to extremist action, then what does the BNP literature do, and what of the Islamophobia within the tabloids that led to Islamophobic attacks throughout 2009?
The only difference is that we are Muslims, and they know full well we are neither organised nor active. Do what they will, neither will our leaders do anything for us, and neither will we demand they do more.
Know this my Muslim brothers and sisters, you all have stood by and watched the oppression of the believers and remained silent – do you think that your Lord will not soon visit it upon you and your family?
Just as this brother’s family is in distress and you did nothing, so your family will soon feel the distress. I swear by God that from which you run will soon visit you. It is not God’s way to allow people to run from oppression like cowards, leaving the oppressor to torment the weak and the true believers, without Him visiting it upon you.

What an appalling distortion of events.
For those old enough to accurately remember the issues will know that it was the call to murder Salman Rushdie for writing a book that offended Muslims that was the issue, not that Muslim expressed their views about the book. This was compounded by images of UK Muslims burning books and effigies, which highlighted the cultural disconnect between them and the majority population.
Salman Rushdie wrote a novel of no political content and certainly did not promote any ideas of violent revolution or the legitimisation of violence. The only violence associated with the Satanic Verses was from individuals and groups who arrogantly claimed to speak on behalf of Muslims and incited violence and crime. While one may disagree with Mr. Rushdie's views, it does not legitimise murder.
If anything the UK Muslim response to this rather boring novel did more to damage relations between Muslims and non-Muslims and set the scene for growing Islamophobia than any other incident I can recall. The profoundly introspective and self-obsessed Muslim leadership could not see beyond their own limited perspectives and realise the damage they were doing to Islam in UK.

You from your comments are a certified kaffir who hates muslims to his very core.
As for Muslim in Birmingham not doing enough to stand with those being harassed ,it is not singular muslims who can make a direct difference ,it is so called muslims groups like MAB-MCB and countless others including Mpac who need to highlight these matters when they occur.
personally i have to say that the most useless people are the democratically elected Muslim councillors and Mps whose job it is to safeguard and look out for welfare their voters.
the masjids are led by old fogeys who do not have the capacity to deal with such issues ,they are old school and are into running and building masjids, it is the generation on from them who need to guide them.
i have mentioned before if mpac is serious about guiding masjids committees in the right direction, the you should do a information pack,as to what the masjids Can do when certain events occur or scenarios arise, just criticising for the sake of criticizing will not help.

It just goes to show that freedom of speech is not really allowed in its entirety and is selective against Muslims.
Shaan, are we to conclude
Submitted by Q on Tue, 02/02/2010 - 1:56pm.Shaan, are we to conclude from your comments that you believe that the calls to kill Salman Rushdie were legitimate from an Islamic perspective and thus legitinmate for all & any Muslim?
If of course opposing such criminal acts constitutes being a "Zionist", then freely and joyously I admit to being a ZIONIST. However it does not accord with my understanding of Zionism. And as yet I am unaware of any expression on my part from which any hatred could be concluded. May I politely suggest that such extreme irrational emotional impulses are entirely on your part. And like most hate-filled people you are blind to reality.
Of course the various Muslim institutions in Birmingham can do more, but if the more you want of them are the violence acts and inane proposals you seem to support, then perhaps it is better that they don't. Your apparent inability to concieve that the actions of the MCB and others in respect of the Satanic Verses book were damaging to the greater Muslim community illustrates your introspective, self-obsessed ignorance.

As for freedom of speech ,you have all the freedom to insult Islam and Muslims but when Muslims wish to use the same freedom of speech then they are extremists, causing harassment,as i have stated before the labour government is hand in hand with this vilification and demonisation of muslims to pass laws and keep the people on board.
Its a old method used by governments all the time ,instead of owning up to their own crimes or shortcomings they will always look for scapegoats.

The author of the article
Submitted by Q on Tue, 02/02/2010 - 10:58pm.The author of the article drew an erroneous comparison between the furore about the book the Satanic Verses and various Muslim reactions, and the claim that someone had been arrested for selling a book titled Milestones. The novel Satanic Verses may be regarded as sacreligious by Muslims but that does not justify the proposed violence against the author.
By introducing these claims into what would otherwise be a call for greater activism in Birmingham it allows the surreptious propogation of untruth, which if unchallenged could become accepted as true.
To quote BBC "A 30-year-old man has appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London charged with 30 terror offences. Ahmed Faraz faces 19 counts of distributing terrorist publications and 11 counts of possessing material likely to be of use to a terrorist. Mr Faraz, of Esme Road, Birmingham, was arrested on 26 January at his home by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit. He denies the charges and was remanded in custody until a hearing on 2 March." I do not know what specifically he is alleged to have distributed and I seriously doubt the author does either. yet the author dismisses the serious nature of these charges.
While Mr. Rushdie may have offended many Muslims he did not distribute or author material that in any way could be described as useful for terrorists. The furore in the West was not about Muslims objection to Satanic Verses but the demand that he be killed (murdered).
If the demand that Mr. Rushdie should be killed for offending Islam then how much more would a non-Muslim demand for violence against Mr. Faraz for distributing the works of Sayyid Qutb be justified, given the nature of some of Mr. Qutb writings?
Of course attacks upon Mr. Faraz would be criminal acts and anyone calling for them should be charged with incitement.
Its all about might is right,
Submitted by Shaan on Wed, 03/02/2010 - 10:30am.Its all about might is right, muslims wherever they are in the world will be vilified-demonised and charge on trumped up charges as long as they are weak, that is the reality ,the laws maybe equal but the people who apply them are never equal,if the terror laws were used uniformly on the whole british nation ,then i can safely assume hundreds of thousands if not millons could be charged under the by hook or crook we will get you laws.
i better get rid of all the information of r.a.f bases i had when i was in the air training corps or i might as well be charged with having information of use to terrorists, this is the level that to days democracy and rules of law have been demoted to.
As for the real terrorists who kill and maim millions they are wined and dined ,they have the arrogance to say they would do it again, all the rubbish about democracy and human rights has turn out be a charade to be use against others but when its your time ,every excuse is made to apply the same laws and principles.

Submitted by Q on Wed, 03/02/2010 - 11:57am.Shaan: Strangely the Copts, Bahais, Mandeans, Jews etc say exactly the same thing about the various "Muslim" states. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
When you say "As for the real terrorists who kill and maim millions they are wined and dined" you are correct. But this applies as much in UK as it does in Gaza. How strange it is that the Palestinian widow with a family of small children struggles on a hand full of shekels and aid packages, while the ignorant and lazy neighbourhood bully receives $15,000 p.a. simply for wearing a Hamas uniform and carrying a gun.
The widow tries hard each day to bring the children up properly and ensure they have an education and future. Every day is a battle against so many forces.
The Hamas "fighter" lolls around on a plastic chair all day at some junction and collects "taxes". Occassionally he attends a funeral and blasts off into the air 30 rounds of 7.62x39mm, the cost of which would have fed the widow's family for a fortnight. Yet despite his swaggering bravado as soon as the IDF turn up he fires his gun aimlessly and then disappears into the alleys to hide, having changed into civilian clothes and hidden the gun.
oddly those who claim to be defending or fighting for our futures too frequently find ways to extend the wars. They know that were peace to breakout then they would fall to the bottom of the pile and go hungry.

As for Saddam he was executed for war crimes for maintaining security in his own nation ,yet bush and blair two war criminals attacked a nation thousands of miles away using WMDs killing and maiming millions, yet they were not lynched but wined and dined.

I see that you are yet again showing that you do not comprehend the complexity of the situation, or i suspect you are delibertly not doing so for your mind is addicted to your simplistic worldview.
If i was to do what you just said i would quite rightly be executed, however if if was doing so to get another gun man who was going to murder people and i accidentily shot someone innocent, then i would probably just go to prison for recklessness, saddam would have been the other gun-man who was going to harm the crowd of people, bush and blair would represent the individual who tried to take him down but failed and ended up hurting others
your hatred for humanity is shown every word you use to play down the murder and maiming of millions of Iraqis.
I havent, i think that it is awful and i wish the war never happened, you on the other hand have played down the deaths of innocent iraqis by calling saddams genocide mere security maintence

As for Saddam amount of deceiving will help as my comments can be checked by all, i hate Saddam was lynched for manitaining security in his own nation yet bush and blair travelled thousands of miles killing and maiming millions yet they are wind and dined, i represented a fact for you, you can twist and turn as much as you like but cannot turn a fact into support.
you may check all the blogs i do not support dictators be they elected-selected or otherwise, i hate hypocrites who excuse the crimes of one party and play up the crimes of others, whereas you support the killing maiming of millions as a side issue, what amount of murder or suffering is acceptable to you as you do not like excess murder or suffering.

I guess the fictional mans answer would be that this violent gun man was worst for a number of reasons, also that he was forced to take the law into his own hands for the authorities were doing nothing, that and he was just as far away as the other gun men, the judge then would rule that the man was reckless and caused excess harm and should be sent to prison but due to the fact that he did not intend excess harm he would not be even close to being considered for execution
As for Saddam amount of deceiving will help as my comments can be checked by all

Shan you have shown yourself to be the one who wishes the killing and maiming of others to occur, just as long as you can spite the west, look at the way you support the deaths of 40,000 more afghans each year according to an org you find reliable
what amount of murder or suffering is acceptable to you as you do not like excess murder or suffering.

Cutting and pasting is zionist deviants speciality but the facts are Saddam was lynched for mantining security in his own nation ,bush and blair traveled thousands miles to attack Iraq killing and maiming millions a supreme war crime ,they are not lynched but wined and dined ,you being a supporter of these mass murderers.
If you wish use the logic of killing a million is ok in the long run as lives are saved, then the same logic can be applied in Saddam's case, under saddam's rule due to health-education and better standards of living on of the best in the middle east Iraq population increased.so using your logic Saddam ws justified in keeping security in his own nation for the betterment of his own people.
the government of Iran is a democratically elected ,unlike the court appointed mas murderer Bush who committed the supreme war crime by attacking iraq.
As someone who supports war criminals woud think that supporting freedom fighters is supporting dictators, i support the people of afghanistan in their fight to liberate their lands of foreign occupation.
so what amount of deaths is acceptable for you when committing the supreme war crime.
