Amid Israel ire, Swedish author receives death threats Print E-mail
Tuesday, 25 August 2009

bostrom.jpgMPACUK Comment: The depth to which the Israelis sink has no limits whatsoever. Not only are they killing Palestinians and stealing their organs but they are also threatening to kill the journalists that expose their evil deeds.

The Swedish author of a controversial article accusing the Israeli Army of harvesting organs from wounded or killed Palestinians says he has received several death threats.

Freelance journalist Donald Bostrom who published the article in the Swedish daily Aftonbladet has raised Israel's ire.

Bostrom, who spoke to CNN from Stockholm, said he had received several death threats about the article.

"I have an e-mail here… 'The Nazis should die and you will be next; we will meet you outside, you will be the next news very soon. Meet you outside'," Bostrom said.

Bostrom said he wrote the article in reaction to a recently discovered crime syndicate in New Jersey, which was involved in organ smuggling.

He said the purpose of his opinion article was to call for an investigation into numerous claims in the 1990s that such activity was going on.

The report has sparked outrage among Israeli officials who have been calling on Stockholm to condemn the article.

Although the Swedish Embassy in Tel Aviv called the report "as shocking and appalling to us Swedes, as it is to Israeli citizens", Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt refused to condemn the report, saying a free press is an integral part of his country's democracy.

This is outrageous. You have no - repeat - no evidence that Israelis are harvesting Palestinian organs. Don't spread untruths. These accusations are baseless and by linking Israeli Jews with this practice you are continuing the anti-semitic propanganda of post-revolution Iran, going all the way back to medieval Europe. Shameful.

It seems to me to be very simple. If the Israeli Army feels that what he has said and published is false, they should sue him. Instead of blustering about it all being lies, why not just take him to court? Or are they afraid to do so? And if so, why?

Whether the article is true or false, ( I haven't read it, as I haven't been able to find an English translation of it online, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful), it seems to me to be only fair that whenever the west defends anti-Islamic sentiments under Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press, that they should also do so whenever it is anti anyone else, in this case Israel.

:)

The allegation is probably false and the journalist has not been able to provide any proff. But putting aside Zionist and Jewish sensibilities in this matter there is a more serious issue.
Each time one of these unfounded or ill-founded claims is made which is design to deeply offend Jews and Israelis, it drives them further into the arms of the extremist Zionist camp and less inclined to intervene and stand-up for Palestinian rights and peace. Anyone who knows even the most basic things of Judaism will know that post-mortem mutilation of corpses is one the most offensive acts to a Jew. Look at how much effort the Jews put in to collect up body parts after a bombing (regardless of ethicity or faith) to ensure a quick burial in accordance with Jewish and Muslim beliefs.
While Jews and Israelis may be deeply upset by these allegations, it is the Palestinians who ultimately suffer as a consequence.

Israeli Nurse:

The IDF and Mossad will soon have their agents working overtime to attempt to kill the story. They'll probably find a distant cousin of the victim to post witness the body was returned without blemish. They'll no doubt also find an Arab Doctor who will substantiate their story by ... alleging the body was dead prior, thus an autopsy created the scars or for that matter what use would the body parts be.

Just simply sitting back, plugging in and watching their global machine at work is amazement in its self.

Hats off (so far) to the Swedes, why should they be any different to the neandothal Danes eh?!

I find it hard to believe that a newpaper would risk upsetting the Jewish community in Europe by printing lies.

Unlike the Muslim community, the Jewish community is powerful.

The Aftonbladet article was truly sloppy, tabloid "journalism." It turns out that the organs of the deceased cannot be transplanted if they are not properly perfused and cooled, etc., according to Dr.Mazen Arafah, director of Al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron. Everybody cool down. Yes, the IDF is cruel and inhuman to Palestinians. Yes, this crappy article resurrected a Middle Ages story about Jews. And I suspect the New Jersey organ trafficking story will trace back to Eastern Europe, not the West Bank, but let's all wait to see. Everybody happy now?

He didn't say there were more Jews than Muslims, he said that the Jewish community was more powerful than the Muslim one. Get your facts straight. You stupid little man. A lot of discussion on this website is exactly about how we Muslims outnumber Jews in almost every country, and yet the Jewish community is always more powerful than the Muslim community. This is largely due to their political ties.

No, FOUR Rabbis were arrested:

Rabbi Eliahu Ben Haim, Deal, NJ
Rabbi Saul Kassin, Brooklyn, NY
Rabbi Edmund Nahum, Deal, NJ
Rabbi Mordechai Fish, Brooklyn, NY

The link to the IDF is not being investigated. So it would be difficult to counter someone who says that ther is no link.

Q:

I am getting tired of showing up your postings for what they are. A subtle misrepresentation of the facts to persuade the less knowledgeable (about the topic) to your way of thinking.

Like I said before, if it is false and there is no proof, why isn’t the journalist being sued for this extremely defamatory article?

You seem to make a very good point without even realising it. It would be fair to say that most Jews and Muslims in Israel-Palestine don’t like each other, (it would be more accurate to say they probably hate each other more than they hate anyone else in the world). Now with this in mind, what is the most offensive thing that the Jews would want to do to the Palestinians, when all they have is a dead body? Probably the most offensive thing they can think of which is…wait for it…da da…Post Mortem Mutilation (round of applause). The fact that they can probably make a lot of money on the side by harvesting the organs and selling them onto the black market would probably be seen as an added bonus.

So, your illogical argument says that we shouldn’t expose the atrocities perpetrated by the IDF because (using your twisted logic), it harms the Palestinians more than it harms the Jews and Israelis.

OK everyone, you heard it here first. According to Q, anyone who sympathises with the Palestinian cause should NOT try to uncover and reveal the crimes and immoral acts committed by the IDF. For the Palestinian peoples own sake, stop trying to show the true side of the IDF. Let them carry on abusing and oppressing the Palestinian people, it is after all, for the good of the Palestinian cause.

You’re a pathetic and weasely little person Q.

Q:

Mazin, Of course we should expose the crimes that the IDF, and for that matter any other group, commits. But we should not invent crimes. The reason is not that it hurts the Zionists, but it hurts the Palestinians. The Jenin Massacre is a case in point.
Look at the lies and exaggerations spread after Deir Yassin in 1948. The hope was that the gross claims would lead the palestinians into angry action against the Zionists. Instead it had the opposite effect and the Zionists quickly realised that the mere suggestion of violence was enough.
These are not the weasly words you accuse me of but objective sane comments.

Organs can only be harvested from live bodies. Apparently, under Israeli law, all dead people are automatically autopsied unless they have a known medical condition and died from that condition under a doctors care.
Much the same as most Western countries.

The tabloid that printed this would be the equivalent of the "Sun" in UK and virtually dead on its feet. The author, a known anti semitic himself admits he has no proof and the family of the boy he uses as an example say they never ever accused Israel of harvesting his body organs. The incident itself happened in 1992 - 17 years ago.

If the accusation were true, surely the Palestinian medicos would be doing second autopsies for the families to ensure their boys were all there. But this has not happened so all there is are allegations and Chinese whispers. On the other hand maybe the Palestinians have done second autopsies for the families and found nothing amiss but that news would probably not be for public consumption.

Yes there were Rabbis in New York implicated in organ selling, but that has absolutely nothing to do with Israel/Palestine. Bostrom has calculatedly used the NY story to bring his newspaper article into the public eye - not to help the Palestinians but to help his and the newspaper's bank accounts!

I agree with you, but if that is the case, why isn't the Israeli government/army taking legal action against him and the newspaper?

This makes me feel that even if the article is a lie, they are afraid that pursuing it more closely may reveal that there are certain aspects of it that are true, and that they would not want to draw attention to it. For example, the Israeli army may not be harvesting the bodies for organs, but they may be mutilating it deliberately in order to cause offence to the Palestinian families when the bodies are returned. This is a viable possibility, that may have led the journalist to make those accusations, and the Israeli government/army do not want to persue the story in full in case this aspect comes up.

This is only a theory and not an accusation, but it would explain to me why they are not suing the journalist/paper in court.

Mazin:-I expect their legal people need a while to make their case against the paper - thereagain they may not bother sueing Aftonbladet - difficult case to contest on either side except that the author has admitted it was just hearsay and the newspaper is on its last legs with no money to defend a case or pay out if they were found guilty.

Taz:-

Sorry - we keep organ donors on life support right up to the minute when they are operated on to remove the organs to transfer - thats why we use choppers to fly organs from one end of the country to the other instead of putting them in the post. Organs from those that have been dead for over a certain time period are much less likely to assimilate. However, there is a corpse in our local morgue who has been there for ages as it has yet to be identified - would you like the brain from that?

Retinas we can freeze but no guaranteed results.

No, chances are they MAY SAY that they will persue it in the courts, but ultimately they won't. Even taking the pro-Israeli point of view, here is a man who said something in print, which has absolutely no truth, that has harmed the Israeli Army's reputation, that (according to you), he has admitted was hearsay. I cannot think of a more clear cut case to sue someone on. The fact that they haven't done so, only lends more credence to my theory that there is probably SOME truth to the story, that certain authorities do not want to come out in a court case.

I read it on Huffington Post blog originally (08/19/09), but the translated article is also on other news sources. Just went back and checked and whether or not the Israelis did harvest organs, the article did say that the author was only claiming that he had heard this was happening. Go check for yourself as it was not me, as you stated, that said it was hearsay. It was the author himself. Backtracking, just like Faulkes.
