Taliban Threat to Islamabad Ridiculous Print E-mail
Wednesday, 29 April 2009

pakistan.gifDirector-General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Athar Abbas out rightly rejected fears that Taliban could storm Islamabad. Talking to CNN, he said it was impossible for a band of 200, who had come to Buner, to storm the capital also. Although Buner is situated within a radius of 100 miles from the federal capital, the threat could not be measured in terms of distance, he said, adding that the threat has to be measured in terms of capability and counter capabilities, he said.

There is a huge presence of law enforcement agencies in the aforementioned area. It is only ridiculous to say that Taliban are threatening Islamabad, he added. There are some splinter groups, not even in control of Mullah Fazlullah and Sufi Mohammad, that are creating problems, he said, adding that the government is confident it would be able to deliver and enforce the peace agreement.

He said there are less than 50 Taliban in Buner, recruited by Swati Taliban, that are left behind after the Swat Taliban’s pullout from the district. After the agreement the Swat Taliban were supposed to lay down their arms. If remain adamant they would be expelled from the area by the security forces, he said.

The government and army were trying their best to honour the peace deal inked with Tehrik-i-Nifaz-i-Shariat-i-Muhammadi (TNSM), he said. Meanwhile, talking to DawnNews, he said the armed forces were exercising maximum restraint and would never allow Taliban militants to take over Buner.

He said the military was closely monitoring the security in Malakand division. Durable peace can only return in Swat when the militants disarm themselves and surrender to the authorities, Abbas said.

Sufi Mohammad must fulfil the commitment he has made to the government, he said, adding that the decision to launch any fresh offensives rests with the political leadership.

TNSM vs Taliban:

The Taliban threat to Pakistan is very real. You have taken the wrong side in the war. The Taliban as they were founded by the ISI in 1994 were the war-orphans from the Russian invasion of 1978. By 1996 the Taliban had over-turned the Taurus revolution and hanged Najib the last communist dictator in Kabul's main square ( where Karzai will be hanging in a few days time) . If Taliban were really a threat to Pakistan, why did they not infiltrate Pakistan for the 5 years when they ruled Kabul?

The reason is that the groups fighting the army and equipped by NATO, Mossad and RAW in Malakand Agency are not the Taliban although that is what they like to call themselves. These are just CIA-funded murderers who want to de-stabilise Pakistan so that America can enter and steal Pakistan's nukes which is a source of threat to the Zionaxis. Their leader Baitullah Mehsud is a well-known CIA mole who was let loose by the other CIA mole Pervert Musharraf whose own agenda was to break Pakistan. No wonder the Americans have allowed Mehsud to build a reputation parallel to the other bad guy in the same region Osama and allow Mehsud to operate freely. One particular absurd instance was when Mehsud claimed that the Vietnamese guy who shot a few people in New York was a Taliban agent!

Then there is Sufi Mohammad whose own 1993 movement Tehrik Nifaz Sharia Mohammadi( PBUH) had nothing to do with the Taliban. But seeing it as a vital 'homegrown' party the Zionaxis insurgents took the TNSM over and started a war against Pakistan by renaming the TNSM as the Taliban. It is a bit like all the anti-Occupation forces fought under different banners until they became united ( did they?) under Al-Qaeda fil Biladar Rafidin ( Al-Qaeda in the Land of the Two Rivers) although the anti-US alliance of Ba'athists, Nationalists and yes some Religious groups (including those funded by Iran) has nothing to do with Al-Qaeda.

But that is academic. The reality is that the Taliban are a tool for NATO to attack Pakistan and should be stopped.
