Divide and conquer – why change a winning formula? Print E-mail

question_mark.jpgRecently President Shimon Peres said:

“The collision between the Middle East, which is Sunni Arab, and the Iranian minority that seeks to take it over, is inevitable.”

Did you get that? “The Iranian minority that seeks to take it over, is inevitable.”

So, not content with disseminating false accusations that Iran is an existential threat to Israel, the Zionist regime is now alleging that Iran is also a threat to Arab nations. Of course, the fomenting of sectarian discord is nothing new. Jonathan Cook in his highly recommended book “Israel and the Clash of Civilisations” states:

“In pursuing their policies against Iraq, the neocons were in lockstep with the Israeli government, then headed by a former general, Ariel Sharon, known for his brutal military adventures and belief in pre-emptive wars. This was no surprise. As we shall see in later chapters, the partition of Iraq into three statelets – based on the Sunni, Shia and Kurdish populations – had been a Zionist ambition dating back decades.”

Cook also describes Oded Yinon’s strategy for guaranteeing US and Israeli dominance of the Middle East:

“In contrast, Yinon’s argument that Israel should encourage discord and feuding within states – destabilising them and encouraging them to break up into smaller units – was more compelling. Tribal and sectarian groups could be turned once again into rivals, competing for limited resources and too busy fighting each other to mount effective challenges to Israeli or US power.”

Make no mistake, the divide and conquer tactic is a tried and tested technique used by our enemies time and again. Let us educate ourselves so we do not fall into the same trap yet again.

Imran Zain:

What they seem to forget is that my enemie's enemy is my best friend; therefore, if Iran are the only nation brave enough to step up against Israel, then I'm confident that many sunnis will back him.

We can always debate with Shia's in terms of theocracy, hadith and the khilafah rashideen over a nice coffee and some sweet pastries. They are no threat to Sunni's realistically.

Jokers to the left of me...:

Gosh, MPAC, now that yoiu have reduced the contributors to your forum to about four people (or less) as a result of your post Xmas "anti-Zionist" witch-hunt; and now that your forum is inhabited of confabulists who claim to have been on the Viva Palestina convoy (even though no-one can quite recall them), or bigots who think that the sun shines out of the rear of AM... one starts to understand why you are so desperate as to move forum posts that garnered no interest onto your own front page.

Talking to yourselves again? Surely not.
