| No BBC, Jerusalem Is Not The Capital Of Israel! |

However there is in fact a greater issue here aside from what may be described as bad sportsmanship, an issue which is even more damning; this is not of UEFA but of the BBC. For many politics simply does not enter into the realm of sport reportage. On BBC Sport coverage in a program called ‘Feature: Israel in Focus’ broadcast on 24th March a BBC correspondent erroneously claimed Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel. A statement that is not only fallacious but extremely offensive to Palestinians living under occupation who see a major and credible news agency dismissing international law which considers neither East nor West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. In a land where for many Palestinians everyday living is a struggle for survival such reporting threatens to forget the silent persecution of a people whose history is being systematically re-written for them. MPACUK recognise that the infallibility of any news agency is far from possible. Therefore if this is an honest mistake then it must be recognised as one. ‘East Jerusalem is considered by the international community to be illegally occupied by Israel, in contravention of several binding UN Security Council Resolutions. In these resolutions, the United Nations Security Council has also called for no measures to be taken to change the status of Jerusalem until a final settlement is reached between the sides: declaring Jerusalem as Israel's capital is an attempt to change this status, and is thus a violation of these Security Council resolutions. Israel’s capital is recognised as Tel Aviv pending a negotiated settlement with the Palestinians.’ [2] We ask you to contact the BBC and complain about the incorrect claim that has been made concerning the status of Jerusalem requesting both an apology and a correction. To make a complaint via the internet click on this link. Or call the BBC directly on 08700 100 222
*Remember the clip was televised as part of BBC Sport coverage called ‘Football Focus - Feature: Israel in Focus’ on BBC1 at 12.10BST on the 24th March 2007.
The BBC must ensure that such a mistake is not made again as it is erroneous, misleading and offensive to many people who are struggling to uphold the rights of Palestinians under occupation.
For more information on the United Nations position on the status of Jerusalem click here.

Get Rid of your TV Sets and Don't Pay the Licence Fee.
You can use the time wisely by praying. Earlier this year, I realised that the Television set was not only a brain-washing propoganda device in my home, but that I was also paying the BBC to give me their version of "news" and "public affairs". I wrote to them as a complaint to say that they were propogating Islamophobia. They wrote back to say that they did not think so. I decided to let go of this popular addiction, and threw away my TV sets (well gave them away actually for no money) and stopped paying the Licence Fee. Oh it made me feel so good. Thats one way to hurt the ones who want us to hear their "truth". Just don't listen to their truth. I now only access news from selected websites and weigh eveything the best I can.

Judge Dredd - i'm afraid getting rid of your tv set won't get rid of media bias - it'll only mean you are blissfully ignorant of it - until the lynch mob of Muslim haters whipped up by the media arrive at your front door!
The only way to get the truth out there is pick up the phone and complain/ email - remember the fact you pay means they have to listen.

Well done MPAC, it is so important that we challenge these details because whilst small in itself, its repercussion is huge and deliberately divisive. As Goebbels said, repeat a lie often enough and it becomes a truth. This is an opportunity for us to actually take 2 mins out of our relatively secure lives (compared to Palestinians) and do something for them. Remember on the day of Judgement we will be held accountable for our inaction. Allah SWT will not reward us for working 60 hours a week for our employer, but for what we do to help others.

Tahira, £130 x 650,000 TV sets in muslim households = £84,500,000.
Thats assuming that only 650,000 muslim households are paying the licence fee. Please take a look around the web to find out what an extra hike to the licence would bring in to the BBC. And how the Licence Fee is so important to the BBC. And thats more than a few emails and complaints can do or have done. I am not saying that getting immersed in emails and phone calls is completely useless, but it makes sense to do something real. I can undertand that many muslim households would rather watch "news" and "films" rather than using that time doing something to develop their souls and something constructive. But thats not a good thing. Regarding your Ignorance thing: Not having a TV set does not mean you dont have access to information or news - thats what the internet is for. And if you dont like the net you can use your FM or digital radio. Hopefully you will then be aware when that crowd gets to your front door.

Just called - had it logged by the BBC and been given a log number. Ensure they give you a log number as sometimes they claim they have logged complaint, but do not.

It seems that muslims will never be happy until the BBC (which has always had a pro-muslim viewpoint anyway) is edited by islamonazis like 'judge dredd'.
why don't you all stop moaning for once and stop living up to the muslim stereotype! There's even a joke about it... How many palestinians does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they just sit in the dark and blame Israel. Why do you think civilised people view islam as a barbaric and backward 'religion'?

Judge Dredd....meanwhile....scrolls down and sees nothing of significance, yawns and takes a nap.....
Meanwhile, elsewhere...............RADIO NEWSFLASH! PEOPLE ARE REBELLING AND STOPPING PAYMENT OF THEIR TV LICENCES AND THROWING AWAY THEIR TV SETS. AND IN FURTHER NEWS, The Zionist Media Guru's at the BBC are getting restless and hiring monkies, civilising them and teaching them to write emails. Commentators expressed concern at this latest development as it was coupled to the BBC lowering their Journalist requirements to research documentaries. The unamed commentator protested and said that if monkies were now writing emails and researching & producing documentaries, how long would it be before golden calves would do the same.

Good Idea Pro-Palestinian,
Maybe even Dua for the unity of the Ummah behind a Muslim Leader with a pure heart and who has submitted to the will of God. Having such a leader would make a change from the self-interested horders running the Muslim countries right now. Maybe a true leader can unite all the Muslim countries and find a solution to the Israel Problem. Maybe even shed some light on the dark hearts of those calf worshipping Zionists. How I would love to go and pray and worship God at AL QUDS without having the Zionist Calf Worshippers preventing me. Oh...., I knew there was something I forgot..............................................REMEMBER IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PALESTINIANS, THROW AWAY YOUR TV SETS AND STOP PAYING THE TV LICENCE. Its so easy, just call your bank and cancel the direct debit. Then send your TV to some poor monkey so it can become civilised and evolve into a modern western supremacist.

Zionism is the biggest threat to muslims in terms of having peace in the middle east and the world. Muslims want to live in peace and don't want trouble but when you got Zionist a** lickers in the media doing stupid things like this !

Well done MPAC on this important initiative, with so many important issues to deliberate on and causes to highlight, you have chosen to focus on this!
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, nothing you can do about it, who is going to listen to a few charged up Islamist racists? Just read back some of the comment made here and you'll also see where the help is really needed!

This is a joke. MPAC do u really think muslims care enough to act upon this? They are too busy at happy clappy nasheed concerts. If I was a betting lady, I'd bet that the BBC on average have recieved 10 complaints - and most of them were prob from MPAC! And if I have offended anyone with my harsh words - tough! Because at this very moment my mother, sister, brother are being persecuted and humilated and their land has been robbed from them and people seem more bothered about a few harsh yet needed words by a sister than the barbaric annialtion of our people and our homeland.
Palestinians and Jerusalem will remain defenceless until the ummah wake up and decided to do more than just 'pray' to Allah for help.

Zionist and proud!:
Thanks for this alert - I've just thanked the BBC!
Didn't seem like they had much complaints about the statement so I don't know why MPAC are bothering. It's as though Muslims have handed Jerusalem over to us on a plate.

Thank you for your e-mail.
'Football Focus' regrets any offence caused by the film broadcast ahead of the Israel v England football match. The purpose of the piece was to look at the state of football in Israel and particularly Tel Aviv, where the European Championship qualifying game was being held. It was while comparing the young, vibrant city of Tel Aviv with the more historic Jerusalem that our reporter Damian Johnson inadvertently referred to it as the capital. We re-iterate our apologies. Please be assured that your feedback has been fully registered on our daily audience log which is made available to the production team involved and senior BBC management. Thank you, once more, for taking the time to contact the BBC. Regards BBC Information

It's great that BBC have admitted their mistake (well done MPAC and everyone who complained!). But shouldn't the BBC correct their mistake publicly if they care about accuracy? Let's ask them to put out a correction.

DON'T COMPLAIN TO BBC by sending them a complaint just to get an automated email response.
DO MORE FOR THE PALESTINIANS! STOP PAYING YOUR TV LICENCE TODAY.........................................................................................................................and throw away your TV set or put it in the attic. TAKE THE ACTION AND SHOW THE BBC THAT THEY CANNOT MAKE UNINTENTIONAL MISTAKES OR EVEN DELIBERATE MISTAKES! You dont have to throw away your TV - you can keep it and still not pay the TV licence - just dont watch it. The BBC does have detector vans that can find out if you are watching your TV Set. You just have to "reasonably" satisfy the BBC that you don't watch the TV anymore. Get your news from the Net or the Radio instead.....

Asma, I think you need to relax a little. The last time I checked and I am a Muslim. The Arabs lost to the Israels. In fact it was actually Pakistani pilots flying in the Jordanian, and Syrian air force who did the most damage. Even fact the Pakistanis were even praised by the Jews.
While the Arabs just sat around and argued with each other, they had problems taking orders from each other. The Arabs are the most arrogant Muslims I have ever come across. The only Muslim nation which can actually defend itself is Pakistan. If the Arabs spent less time, looking for attractive young ladies to marry and spent just a little more time, on the military maybe we today would be in a better position to defend ourself.

There are many arguments against Israel's inclusion in UEFA, which it joined in 1991. Ismail Patel notes these points very simply and succinctly, ‘Israel's deliberate targeting of sports facilities, punitive travel restrictions on Palestinians, general undermining of Palestinian football, and in particular obstructing Palestinians from participating in international tournaments, has to be categorised as racial discrimination’ [1].
