All Good Things Come To An End... |

There was pandemonium in my home the other week – the batteries in the
remote control had packed in. My teenage son had to actually get
himself up off the sofa and manually change channels on the TV. After
he had recovered from his astonishment and horror, I explained that we
shouldn’t take things for granted and should be grateful for small
blessings and mercies (keeping in mind that most of the stuff he
watches is garbage anyway).
As Muslims, many of us have also slipped into a calming, comforting
coma of complacency, so much so that we are not willing to struggle to
maintain the good things we take for granted. The choice whether or not
women can wear the burka, perhaps?
What if hijab was made unlawful? How about banning halaal meat? What if
no males between the ages of 16 and 45 could attend prayers in the
mosque? What will it take to shake us off our sofas? Wouldn’t the more
sensible approach be for these things not to happen in the first place?
Muslims are blessed that we live in a country like the United Kingdom
where we are allowed to voice an opinion and campaign for change, yet
some of us take this for granted and leave this essential obligation to
others.
All good things will come to an end – unless we do something. There is still time … there is still hope … what are YOU going to do about it?

Slort:
This article comes perilously close to a contempt of court - saved only be they fact that it is, as a whole, so desperately silly that no judge could be bothered (you better hope) to take umbrage at MPAC's implication that he had acted in a prejudicial manner.
Feminist:
"to maintain the good things we take for granted. The choice whether or not women can wear the burka, perhaps?"
Eh? Excuse me? The burka is a "good thing that we take for granted"?
What a twat.
Reason:
'The burka is a "good thing that we take for granted"?'
The good thing is that there should be freedom of choice - what a plonker, Feminist
@ Feminist:
Some women like to cover themselves when they go out - other women think that letting their t*ts hang out in public is OK. It's a matter of personal choice, you silly moo!
sense:
Whether or not you think the burka is good or bad, the woman should have the freedom of choice to wear it just as they have the freedom to wear a skirt, hat or any other clothing apparel. I do agree that wearing it does limit the activities these women can undertake especially with regards to sports but again that is their choice. In short the burka should not be banned but its wearers need to speak out and yes they can do even in a burka.
