MPACUK Held to Account: Do more for Palestine! Print E-mail

A dedicated brother has held MPACUK to account for not doing enough or working effectively in what we do, to defend the innocent Palestinians against Israel's brutal attack. When will other muslim groups also thank and welcome honest sincere feedback, without making cheap excuses or rebutting the allegations or pretending it will all blow away? It is only through reviving the Islamic principle of Accountability that we can improve.

Just got back from abroad, and to be honest, I'm disappointed with your "Action Alert". it misses MAJOR strategic opportunities/responsibilities:

1) What about advocating the lobbying of MEP's and/or prospective MEP candidates on the respective slates? There are EU elections 6 months from now and the EU political structures have an increasingly bigger & significant role. AND it fits in with MPACUK'S multi-national approach eg Ireland.

2) What happened to promoting intra-party political lobbying - eg resolutions at party meetings and/or conferences; questioning prospective candidates etc ? If you don't educate your email list at each opportunity then who else will (or not) raise the bar of Muslim public citizenship ?

No apologies on being blunt bearing in mind the cause.

Europe is Israel's largest market for exports, with total trade with the EU amounting to more than €25.7 billion in 2007. The European Parliament has the power to take action to put real pressure on Israel!

URGENT: Please Take Action NOW!

1) Contact your MEP and ask them to take action to support Gaza. Here is a sample letter:

Dear (Name of MEP),

I am outraged at the current events in Gaza, where Palestinians are being killed in large numbers due to Israeli attacks.

I am also shocked to learn that the Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak has said that "it will continue as long as necessary".

As my MEP I urge you to take urgent action to oppose these attacks.

I look forward to your response.

I think we also need to put pressure on the hypocritical stance of the Muslim leaders who watch idly as the muslims are butchered in Palestine. We should not let them get off freely by not putting the heat on them.
Lets get some action alerts directed at them to use the Muslim Armies to defend the Muslims of Gaza.

There is already some ground work with regard to ensuring there is a benchmark on human rights that israel must meet before relationships with the EU improve.
