| ACTION ALERT: Outrage as Lloyds TSB Demand IBB to close Interpal’s Bank Accounts |
|
|
| Thursday, 13 November 2008 | |
It’s really not enough that Palestinians are murdered with impunity; have their houses demolished; their lands stolen; drinking water poisoned and forced to endure endless humiliation and degradation. The thought that a charity, Interpal, could be established to solely serve their humanitarian, medical and educational needs and dare to give these people hope and a means to survive is an outrage to their occupiers and their immoral supporters.
The answer? A sustained and systematic malicious campaign by the Zionists to close down Interpal, by any means possible.
The campaign stalled, they could not get the Charities Commission to close Interpal down so they tried another tact….the banking system. They succeeded, despite MPACUK's efforts in getting the cowardly RBS to force Interpal to rebank in 2006 and this caused much hardship to Interpal and distracted it from the vital work it does for the Palestinians. Interpal rebanked with Islamic Bank of Britain, (IBB). Now Muslims might feel they are protected if banking with an Islamic Bank….not so my friends. IBB’s customer's transactions are cleared via Lloyds TSB. Lloyds TSB have shown how much they value their Muslim customers by demanding that IBB terminate Interpal’s banking facilities by 8th December 2008. After this time: “all transactions into or out of Interpal accounts will be blocked and Islamic Bank of Britian will be at further risk of all its customer payments being suspended”. Note how there is no reason for the closure of the bank stated here. What now? Shocked? You should be angry and ready to tell Lloyds TSB exactly what you think of their immoral actions. They have not even awaited the findings of the current Charity Commission investigation into Interpal, due shortly, which will no doubt clear them of all the malicious allegations made by the Zionists. Just as it has in the past. Lloyds TSB has treated IBB and Interpal with contempt. Their action sends a signal to other Muslim charities – as well as the bank’s 50,000 Muslim account holders – that their accounts can be closed down without any justification or explanation at any time. If you bank with Lloyds TSB, consider whether they value your Muslim credentials and our values, for standing up against oppression and feeding the needy Palestinians. What can I do? Call Lloyds TSB to ask them to rescind this outrageous, unfair and arbitrary decision.

Dear Sir/Madame
I am outraged at the news that Interpal, the UK based Charity supporting the oppressed people of Palestine has been targeted by Lloyds TSB, which is refusing to clear all Interpal funds with the Islamic Bank of Britain(IBB) and pressuring IBB to terminate Interpal’s banking facilities by 8th December 2008. I am also shocked that a well-known bank, such as yourselves would not even await the findings of the current Charity Commission investigation into Interpal which is due shortly. I demand that, Lloyds TSB take into consideration our values and provide a reason for these actions, and withdraw threats made to the charity. I look forward to your response. Thank you ................ Utterly disgraceful.
If this is the way RBS and Lloyds act, then Muslims should close down their accounts. Secondly, there is a case that the four or so main banks that clear all transactions are behaving like a monopoly and some appear to be grossly abusing their power, or being capable of being influenced to do so. As Lloyds and/or RBS are threatening Interpal, a humanitarian charity, we in turn will question their right to be part of this monopoly. MPAC should thus refer this matter to the Competition Commission, as the present situation is also anti-competitive and could lead what is in economic terms termed as ‘‘super profits’’. Britons cannot afford further unbridled greed on the part of the banks and this time of belt tightening. We have seen what the banks have done to bring about the current disastrous recession, which almost brought Britain to its knees with their crass behaviour and selfish profiteering. The banks should also remember that friendly Middle Eastern countries keep substantial funds here and Britain cannot afford to lose these funds, money which the Prime Minister has been trying recently to garner to prop up the ailing economy. Lloyds behaviour towards a charity could upset the Middle Eastern countries. Britain and Britons will not stand in these times to be ruled by the banks with their unpatriotic behaviour.

This is appalling, LloydsTSB are cowards and acting in an unethical manner. Interpal is serving the needs of the Palestinians and is a well respected Muslim charity. All decent people should email LloydsTSB to voice their outrage and ask them to reverse their decision.

If Lloyds thought the countries in the ME cared about the Palestenians they wouldn't have dared to do so. But they know that ME countries rulers care about nothing but pleasing their masters who put them in power.
If rulers of ME cared about Palestine, there would be no need for Interpal. Oil export money for one day would be enough to feed the Palestenians for 30 years.

Everyone with TSB Accounts should tell them they are closing them and taking their business elsewhere...
If they stall account closure for other reason like loans or cards you might still have with TSB, then everyone should withdraw ALL there money before Dec 8th and take it elsewhere.

WITHIN TEN YEARS the number of Arabs living under Israeli control (including Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel itself) will surpass the number of Israeli Jews. When that happens, in the absence of large-scale ethnic cleansing, Israelis will be forced to choose between two futures.
The State of Israel will either be Jewish, but not democratic — because a Jewish minority will control a land mostly inhabited by Palestinians — or Israel will be democratic, but not Jewish, because Palestinians will form a majority in a binational state. Concern is growing throughout Israel in the face of a perceived Arab “demographic threat.” In the West Bank & Gaza alone, the Arab population grew from 2.8 million to 3.7 million in the last ten years. Outgoing Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, recently articulated his fears about a fast-growing Arab population:

i think what is equally disturbing is that islamic banks should have to rely on a non islamic bank for it to continue its business.
the questions have to be asked on what basis is tsb acting and why isnt there an islamic alternative?

Sulaiman:
Masha'Allah the MCB has acted...
MCB has written to Lloyds TSB deploring its action that places the community's most respected charity in limbo Lloyds-TSB is the clearing bank for the Islamic Bank of Britain, where Interpal holds its account. The full text of MCB's letter to the CEO of Lloyds TSB: "Sir Your decision to serve notice on the Islamic Bank of Britain to cease all dealings with the International Relief and Development Fund (Interpal) is causing the MCB and the Muslim community tremendous concern and anxiety. Interpal is a well-respected charity and an affiliate of the MCB providing shelter, food, medicine and education for tens of thousands of deprived Palestinians. It is a British charity and operates in accordance with English Law under the supervision of the Charity Commission. Aid is given to beneficiaries purely on the basis of need, not political or religious affiliation. We are all aware of past and present campaigns to vilify and undermine Interpal. Two investigations by the Charities Commission, in 1996 and 2003, have rejected the very serious allegations brought against it. We had hoped that all such accusations would be buried and laid to rest once and for all. We deplore the pressure that has been placed on IBB to close down the Interpal account. We note that Lloyds TSB with its high street presence has a significant number of Muslim account holders, and that it has also been reaching out for business for its shariah compliant current account. If banking services to Interpal are not reinstated, then this will inevitably influence the actions of its existing and future customer base."

Wendy Mann please refer my comment.
In summary, we should refer LLoyds Bank to the Competition Commission, because they are potentially abusing their power as one of the very few banks actually allowed to FINALLY PROCESS (‘’clear’’) bank transactions between ALL UK banks. This abuse of power results from the banks monopoly of this function, and thus from a lack of competition. They would not dare do so if there were an alternative. Colin the Athiest:
Here's an extract I found regarding Interpol, it appears its a front to Hamas. No wonder Lloyds does not want anything to do with it.
The US Treasury Department thinks Interpal is a money front for Hamas. And recently, the UK Independent newspaper reported that Israeli prosecutors had provided documents showing that millions of Euros had been funnelled through Interpal to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers, including the family of the bomber who killed 15 Israelis inside a Sbarro pizza shop in 2001. In 2000, American and German investigators arrested Sheikh Mohammad Ali Hassan al Moayad, a Hamas fundraiser who spent his spare time sending cash and arms to Al-Qaeda. During the investigation, Sheikh Moayad showed receipts for tens of thousands of dollars made out to Interpal to a FBI informer, so as to prove that he could "get money to the jihad." Additionally, Saudi organizations such as the International Islamic Relief Organziation and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth also funnelled millions of dollars through Interpal, destined for unknown Palestinian coffers. Whats more, Interpal founder Ibrahim Hewitt, once admitted that Interpal money could have "possibly" made its way to Hamas, but not to its "military wing."

Some more Interpal info:
On November 21 2003 , the Australian Government , pursuant to the provisions of UN Resolution 1373 designated Interpal, a charity based in the UK a specially designated global terrorist. (http://www.dfat.gov.au/icat/regulation8_consolidated.xls) The US Government designated Interpal pursuant to UN Resolution 1373 and Executive Order 13224 on 22 August 2003. I can see why Lloyds TSB has taken their decision and will be emailing them with all the information I have found regarding this organisation.

colin the deceiving zionist pretending to be atheist, if the families of those killed in freedom operations are helped then that is a good thing.
the person who gives his tommorows for others does not do so by asking his family, when israeli terrrorists blow up the family home i am sure you love this terrorist action and fully support it, should they be left desolute and homeless for no fault of their own. the biggest terrorist of them all is fully backed by america and her cronies, hamas party is the democratically elected government of palestine and it is their duty to help their people with all means at their disposal. if anyone does not like their methods of resistance then it is simple end the occupation. no occupation no resistance.

Here's an extract I found regarding Interpol, — Colin the Athiestand we are supposed to accept interpol without any questions .. in the same manner that we are supposed to have accepted blairs dodgy dossier and more recently the uk governments pronouncements with regard to 42 days, id cards, dna database? "The US Treasury Department thinks" - is that the basis for acting? "Israeli prosecutors had provided documents" - israelis provided evidence that iraq had wmds too. "to a FBI informer" - what was the payback for the informer , how reliable is this evidence? so no hard evidence just allegations, and of course money may have possiblt got to hamas members .. as a charity are they supposed to demand ones political allegiances before administering aid/ help? ysb have no real evidence nor do you other than some allegations. if you have the evidence then why not present it to the charities commision .. and the police?

A previous statement from BOND (British Overseas NGOs for Development):
Interpal is a registered British charity providing aid in Palestine and the Occupied Territories and has been described by the Charity Commission as a “well run and committed organisation”. Following Interpal’s designation as a SDGT [Specially Designated Global Terrorist, by the US govt], the Charity Commission froze their bank accounts and carried out a thorough investigation of the organisation, concluding that there was no credible evidence to support the allegation of terrorist connections. Despite this, Interpal remains on the US list, and has subsequently been listed by other countries, including Australia and Canada, apparently as a direct result of the US designation. Not only does there seem to be no evidence to support these governments’ decisions, but the process by which organisations end up on such lists and how they can be taken off them again remains unclear. http://tinyurl.com/683lhk
