Are our mosques that badly run that we shouldn't even expect them to help our community or is MPACUK asking too much of them? Readers have left 2 comments.

Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah
Thank you so much for highlighting the cause on your site. So far, we have received a lot of positive response from everyone we have spoken to and/or asked for help. This includes imams, and scholars. We have just started out, but we hope to work with masaajid to make their facilities more Deaf friendly, insha'Allah. One preliminary goal is to get trained BSL interpreters into the two main London masjids, for the Jumuah khutbah. If anyone can advise on how to go about this, please contact us: contact[@]signlabs.org. As with everything, it takes time, effort and patience... but so far, we feel very optimistic about the changes we will be able to bring, for the benefit of all, insha'Allah. Btw, Regents Park Mosque already holds monthly meetings for Deaf Muslims, though they need to become more regular, insha'Allah. The problem here is not a lack of facilities or cooperation from the masjid, but I think a lack of available speakers trained in both Islam and BSL. Of course, the easiest solution would be to have interpreters working alongside regular speakers, but that costs money! Insha'Allah, we'll figure something out. Wa'salam
