Did his mum's open support of Zionism make it alright to plot coups…I mean, over throwing governments by foreign born fighters, often known as the Al-Thatcher mercenary brigade? Readers have left 18 comments.

Biblical Christianity does not need terrorism nor oil to spread into the ME and beyond.Unlike a certain other religion that uses both to try and get it's way.

Absolutely spot on article, speaks volumes through its brevity.
Take it further with the authorities, both local and international, MPAC. No doubt Mark Thatcher may need Mummy's help as he did years ago when became lost and went round and round in north Africa. But has he lost.... the plot again?

Mark thatcher and terrorism dear oh dear you boys at mpac are losing sight of reality.
These labels of terrorism are only reserved for our opponents,we never do terrorism, we have a god given right to civilise and democratise people around the world so that they will let us take what we want, without any hesitation.

The article asks for opinions, here is mine. Mark Thatcher is not a terrorist, but the allegations made against him do make him criminal. As I understand it, he has already been banned from entering USA. He is not the only one involved in this, there were a number of people involve, white men, black men and middle-east men. So the assumption of the article that this is 'white' terrorism is wrong.
You will know that those that conduct Muslim-related terrorism do so using scripture as the reason for doing so. Mark Thatcher and his friends conducted their coup through greed.

As-Salaamu 'alaikum,
It was amusing to watch Simon Mann sing like a canary in his televised trial the other day. The guy is ex-SAS and is trained not to give into pressure, but I guess this is not SAS business. He just wants to save his skin and is telling the Guineans what they want to hear by implicating all the people they suspect. If Mark Thatcher's in any "first world" country, including South Africa, he won't get sent to EG as it's not generally regarded as a "respectable" country which will give him a fair trial, and has already been tried in SA and found guilty although he didn't go to jail - but he did have to give up his plans to go to the USA as he was a convicted criminal. As far as terrorism is concerned, the plot was for a political coup, not an act of terrorism. That may make him a criminal (depending on your view of the present regime in EG and what they intended to replace it with) but it no more makes him a terrorist than it makes him a bank robber.

Simple facts, the opposition, will never show their own as enemy. Bin Laden is a "Hero" in the Middle East, and "Terrorist" in the Muslim world. Its all a Media Spin. Muslim countries, need to eradicate this mindset of inferiority complex which they have about the West. They ought to build their own economices, and go head to head with the Western economies and the Media. We desperately need a revival of the Khalifah Islamic State in the Muslim World. The Muslim countries of today are very submissive to the West. We need to eradicate the myth of a "caucausian" person as always being "innocent" and always the "hero". We need to stop complaining about the Western countries, We need to become the equal heavy weight.

HAhaha looo. Spot on.
MPACUK want to know, where did he get his ideology? Who recruited him? What about his background? Does growing up the son of a Prime Minister mean that he thinks organising coups is a political statement? Was he integrated with them "darkies" enough at school to know coups are a bad thing? He is a terrorist in every sense of the word. Mohsin: stop living in Lala land brother. That era came and went. When you see some of these Muslims countries who you are hoping will contending with the West you will die of laughing or crying at their state. Salamah

I would like him be locked up and questioned without trial for 42 days (just to see if it works and he cracks) - does anyone know how many days he was held without charge?

You got to have some Self belief. Who would have predicated the Muslims would have defeated the Roman Empire ? I agree some muslims countries, are in a Choatic state, but change can always come. You only need one nation, from the 55 Muslim Nations, I mean look at Malaysia, its becoming a heavy weight. Inshallah the time will come, maybe not in this era, but some era. Lala Land ?. Am an optimist Zahra. Positive thinking , Zahra !!

What the muslim world requires is honest leadership that works for the welfare of muslims.
It has taken china 25 years to get to where it is today, the muslism world can do it within 20 if you have sincere leadership.

Lool, You mean Ummah Belief? As I said the era is long gone. Malaysia you say... I don't want to mess up your optimism, but Malaysia suffers from the same problems are other Muslim countries. Research the recent problems they have faced, the social issues and the position of Islam. It is not even an apprentice, let alone a heavy weight. Positive think means sticking your head in the sand, no sir, not me. I'm look with my eyes open. Indeed the time of change will come, I agree, I just don't see us (collective Muslims) changing anytime soon. W/Salamz

Shan, it took China much longer than 25 years to get where it did today. Even if one were simply to consider modern post imperial China then it starts in 1911, almost a 100 years. But Chinese society can draw upon a highly developed civilisation with established and stable government going back more than 2000 years.
What the Chinese have which almost no other group shares is a phenomenal sense and history of unity. It is also well not to overlook the decades of war, starvation and terror the Chinese experienced in the 20th C. Millions upon millions died. Also that China is not some benighted democracy with concentration camps and a vicious secret police system. There is also a massive army to ensure that no one challenges the status quo. You are right the Muslim world does need honest leaders but where is the demand that this reform occurs. The Israel / Palestine conflict precedes and dominates everything. How often do we hear that nothing can be done until Zionism is eradicated? Yet it is the very absence of honest effective leadership that prevents the Muslim world from taking on Israel. Palestine is a microcosm of what is wrong - riven with clan divisions, corruption and woeful manipulation by outsiders. And what is the result? The israeli / Zionists can do what they like and the Palestinians get poorer and poorer. And who wins? The rotten corrupt leaders that dominate the Muslim world. Yesterday a poll was published by Harvard University in which it was stated that 77% of Israeli Palestinians have no desire to live anywhere else than Israel and want to co-exist as Israelis with their Jewish neighbours. Why aren't they voting to become part of Palestine? Never forget everytime you think of the hungry Palestinian children in Gaza that the cost of two bullets exceeds the cost of feeding a child for a day. Then think about how much ammo is simply wasted by the fighters. Why is there so much money for bullets and no money for bread? If Hamas can smuggle in weapons why can't they smuggle in food? Ever seen a hungry Fatah or Hamas fighter and family?

RSD with your usual long worded comments full of hot air,end with the same lines, justification for israels occupation by blaming the victims.
RSd if there was no occupation of palestine there would no need to fight for freedom from occupation. China,s worst period was the early to middle of the 20th century,occupation-murder and humiliation at the hands of foreigners. Until the 1980s china was a backward country with bikes to go around, the economic expansion has happened in the last 25 years. The muslims world has all the ingredients to go forward, what is needed is a good and honest leadership.

the simple answer to this state ment is no mark thatcher is not a terrorist but he is an idiot.
why are people calling for his death when the regime he was trying to evict, carrys out the torture and humanitarian crime which america is partaking in similar activetys? the jounalist who was present at the coup has written an article in the independant (08/07/08) has documented part of the situation and you need to read both sides of this be for you atart calling for blood. that is exactoly the wrong type of image the muslim world needs to be putting forward. he may have had dubious reasons for trying to carry out the coup but it is a **** hole and needs sorting out much in the same way mugabe and his regime needs having a restraining hand.
