Our collective mentality is to succumb to what we perceive to be inevitable. We are not capable of comprehending how change can occur and what our own role within that change is. How quick we are to extinguish the distant flame of hope, how very sad. Our fallback is to criticise the efforts of others. We tell them they will not succeed that their efforts are in vain. We mock and belittle every step they make on the road to change. In fact some may be the obstacle that prevents change. Where is the humility in this? Where is the fear of our own infallibility? That we would be so ready to judge. It is folly to talk of the beauty of Islam about the mercy of Quran when our mindset is such. What it shows is that the words have not penetrated the heart, they lay dormant on our tongues. The so called love we claim to have is just an illusion within our own minds. Until we are unified we always be in this state. Until we have the wisdom to really understand the nature of our accountability we will always be in this state. Until we understand that piety leads to sincerity of deeds we will always be in this state. Until we are prepared to live and understand the true Spirit of Islam we will always, always be in this state. It is not deeds that make you pious it is piety that makes you strive to do good deeds. It saddens me but I believe the Soul of the Ummah is dead, but there are those who have chosen to revive it…..why not join them? Readers have left 5 comments.

Assalaam walaikum and Greetings
There are several reasons why the Ummah is 'dead', as per the thread. Here's some. 1) Muslims feel that they personnally can't do anything about an issue but reassure themselves that someone else (another Muslim) will or is handling the concern. Since we all think like this then the end result is that No Muslim is actually tackling the issue that faces us. So, nothing gets done. 2) When one finds the courage to speak out about issues and finds others who are willing to be as proactive as yourself, other Muslims will either a) join-in to make a "name" for themselves, effectively being a burden on the real issue. b) create another group, so that they can go it alone. This relates to a) or because they do not like the individuals within that group (owing to the "sect" of Islam that they belong to). In both cases, the groups become ineffective owing to disagreements on how to tackle the issue. Since there is no united front to present, the people in power do not take them seriously. 3) The attitude that "is not my problem" or "it does not concern me"...the "I'm alright jack" attitude. Until, of course, their own butts get kicked which makes them become more proactive. The Palestinian cause is one such issue. 4) Far too busy in their working lives, amassing as much money as they can get, such that they are unwilling or unable to do anything positive for the community or the religion. Wasalaams and Regards.

The Soul within the ummah is not "dead", it has to be revived. Muslims must proactively seek the Knowledge and the Wisdom of the Quran and instill fullest implementation of the Quranic teachings in their life. When the Taqwah will be strong, the knowledge of the Quran will be strong, inevitably all those issues which the muslims currently struggle, inshallah, the Ummah will find a remedy via Allah (SWT) All remedy comes from Allah (swt),muslims will experience hardship, as this life is a test. Hardship will toughened the minds and character and give opportunities to evaluate who are the sincere and who are not.

This attitude is a reflection of the weakness of Iman and lack of trust in Allah(swt). We must return to our faith.

assalaamu alaikum.... as a brother who, for circumstances beyond our wishes, fought, and am still fighting an exhausting jihad with criminals and drug dealers, which incidentally, has left me physically disabled, but more painful than this, has left me with a heart that weeps.
My heart weeps, not for the fight, nor for the mocking, but I weep for the loneliness, I weep deeply for the mu-min of this land who have perhaps, become content to be 'armchair' jihadis. The call to rise and fight for the Ummah has long been called, unless we are ALL as an ummah, we will just be, and continue to be, the unabated targets of ridicule by the kuffar. There are things we are instructed to avert our eye's from, please don't avert your eyes from the plight and needs of the brothers and sisters who are near or next to you. You, them, are the 'soul'of the ummah, the ummah is in every brother and sisters hand. Treat it kindly, then you will be treated kindly wasalaam

Within the Muslim psyche there is a shameful degree of pessimism. We believe that we are not capable of overcoming the challenges faced by the Ummah. That the problems are too widespread, that divisions are irreconcilable, or maybe we believe that there is no personal accountability.
