The Muslim Writers Project originated in April 2006 to encourage Muslims to write more. The idea of the project is to assist and nurture emerging writers and get them published. The Awards were then conceived to showcase and highlight new literary talent from the Muslim community in Birmingham. What the Awards hope to achieve is get more writers from a black and minority ethnic background published by mainstream publishers. This is a unique opportunity for Muslims to put their views across and write about what’s important to them. It is too easy to let Muslim MPs and mosque leaders talk for you. Be your own spokesperson. Writing is an art form, a means of expressing your beliefs and can change the world around us. If you believe in something strongly enough or want to write about more than “women in hijab”, which seems to be the favourite topic of Muslims writers today, start writing now. Ah man. I didn't know about this question and deadline gone. I've been looking for these kind of things for ages, and got books ready, novels. Anyway, I've emailed them and see what they say.
How come we don't get these things publicised in a big way. Anyway, thanks MPAC. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even known about it. Sadly, the deadline has gone not that I'll stop writing my books cause I write because it's part of me anyway. Thanks!

In just ten days The Muslims Writers Awards are coming to Birmingham. With guests from all over the world and writers of all calibre on the judging panel, this is no small event.
