Was MPACUK Wrong To Attack Sufi Leaders? Print E-mail

question_mark.jpgMembers of the website may know that MPACUK is non sectarian and we often attack Mosque and student so called emirs for their almost racist addiction to sectarianism. Often they are so drunk on their hatred of the sect down the road that they cannot see any of the major political attacks happening right under their own noses.

The author of this article knows all too well the idiocy that these cults instill in their adherents, since I was one of them for many years. At any and every opportunity I would argue over some stupid minor point of fiqh – unable to see the greater evil of hatred of Islam being spread by Zionist hate preachers.

That does not mean MPACUK does not itself hold to account various sects ourselves. Holding them to account over their sheer stupidity. We have held to account adherents of Tablighi Jamaat for having a fixation on trouser and beard length while never lifting a finger to stop injustice and oppression and Shia groups for their constant moaning about ‘Karbala’ when every single day they witnessed another Karbala and did nothing about it.

Every time we hold accountable any major sect or group the defenders of that group rush to complain of some perceived unjust accusation by MPACUK. MPACUK have always held true to the spirit of accountability that we seek to spread across Mosques and student Islamic society mafias. We have allowed their complaints on our site, giving it often more exposure then the writer intended. Our readers (Zionists need not apply) are welcome to disagree with us and will be treated fairly on this site even if they disagree wit us – no mosque would give this type of open space for Muslims to disagree with them you can be sure.

So when a reader complained that MPACUK had been unfair to the Sufi’s with an over generalisation, MPACUK decided that reader had as much right to defend his group as MPACUK had to attack it and stuck it up as a letter from the public.

However those who rushed to defend the Sufi groups operating in the UK, let us ask – how many Sufi’s daily here in the UK are known for standing up for Muslim rights and fighting Islamaphobia?

There is no point talking about a tiny minority of Mujahadeen fighting in Chechnya, we live here in the UK and here in the UK 99.9% of all Sufi leaders are pretty much close to useless. A very blanket statement but one which this writer believes he can prove.

I myself have written articles in the past attacking many Salafi’s naming them ‘Cave Muslims’ because they were so ignorant in their pointless bickering over the tiniest of matters. However we have to be honest, it may have taken them years but at least now we can name a number of groups who are at the forefront of fighting against oppression. Cage prisoners is a well known example of a group of Salafi’s who are now well known amongst Muslims for standing up for them. Yes in the most they are still useless but they are reforming, can the same be said of one single Sufi group in the UK that is known across the UK for doing the same?

The fact is Sufi leaders, scholars and adherents should be ashamed of themselves. Whilst they sit on secluded hills pretending to get close to Allah, when all around oppression and evil spreads across the world, where Muslims are arrested and forgotten as they rot in Jail, women are tortured and children shot for nothing more then throwing a stone in Palestine. How can anyone claim this is following the Prophets PBUH example? Does any Sufi really believe that the Prophet PBUH would abandon the Jihad against oppression and sit around making excuses that he was seeking Allah by repetitively repeating his name and going off on spiritual holidays?

Yes he did BOTH! The inner Jihad strengthened the external Jihad …those who did only one (the spiritual one) were called Hypocrites!

MPACUK are not anti Sufi, just as we are not anti Tablighi or anti Salafi or Shia our team has all of these sects within our ranks, but we are anti what most people in Britain today pretend is Sufism, - nothing but a cheap spiritual high, an excuse for faith, fake love and piety – while they look the way as Muslim and non Muslims who are suffering get nothing but excuses as to why they are not helping. How can anyone see how much wrong in this world is happening and then busy themselves forgetting about it by claiming they are doing Tasawwuf.

Tasawwuf was a way to remember Allah, strengthen our connection and bond with Him, that would lead the Muslim to be able to enjoin the right and forbid the wrong. It made Sala-ud-deen strong enough internally to fight the injustice externally as some readers of our website have rightfully pointed out.

But look around, how many Sala-ud-deen’s do you see now in the UK from the Sufi groups? MPAC did not attack true Tasawwuf, many of our members practice it – we attacked the cheap spiritual high that many people claim is Tasawwuf. True Tasawwuf leads the Muslim to do good, fight Jihad and stop evil in this world, the other makes one feel holy and allows the Sufi’s who attend it to abrogate them from the promise they made to their Lord when they accepted Islam to protect the faith, the Ummah and oppressed of the world no matter what faith or creed.

An example of this type of faith and how it destroys the Muslim who follows it can be seen in India. We have seen with our own eyes non Muslim lower caste Dalits in India eat rats they are so poor and mistreated by higher caste Hindus. These rat catchers of India are despised for a life they were born into. Yet one hundred million Muslims from all sects allow it to continue, busying themselves with the minor rituals whilst forgetting the obligation to stop the major crimes against humanity they were taught by Islam to forbid.

They do not truly follow Islam. The Prophet PBUH would never have allowed this state to continue. Instead we saw non Muslim white British men and women campaigning there to end this disgrace. It does not matter how much one focuses on the beard, or the hijab or Tasawwuf or minor points of fiqh. If you never exert your life to stopping the greater evils in this world, you are following a cult that is as far away from Islam as anything could be.

We are against the teachers of this sect who warp its great message into prioritising the minor over the major. We are not against any aspect of Islam – but the way it is being taught by all groups and that includes the Sufi groups.

If MPACUK is true to Islam and Allah we are not about to run away from holding to account any group of scholars or so called Muslim Leaders from any sect who are failing to stop the very evil they were sent down to earth to stop.

If the Sufi’s readers are sincere that they are doing the job that they are supposed to do – then watch over the next few weeks. We can guarantee that out of the hundreds of Sufi groups, with tens of thousands of followers, not a single Sufi group will have spearheaded a campaign against the multi million pound Policy Exchange Zio –Con think tank.

In fact in every single case where Muslims are attacked the majority of Sufi leaders and their pacified adherents will spend more time in Tasawwuf then they ever will in standing and protecting the Ummah or the Oppressed of this world. Do you remember any Sufi group doing anything as politicians and Media people attack you daily? As Millions of Muslims suffer due to Britain’s foreign policy?

The question is why not? If you can answer that – you will realize, that something very wrong is being taught by Sufi groups. Something that makes the vast majority of Sufi’s pacified in the face of tyrants. Would it be right of MPAC then to be silent on this issue?

We sincerely hope that Muslims do not just jump and defend their group or sect as a knee jerk reaction but instead analyse why this is the case. We will post the readers comments as separate letters if they are good enough, and also if you wish to write an article challenging this one, feel free to write into info@mpacuk.org and we will put it up for others to comment on.

An good piece but avoiding strong language would have made it excellent and more effective.

In addition to the write up please let me remind the readers of a hadith according to which Allah Subhanahu T'ala sent the angels to punish a locality of sinners. The angel said to Allah Subhanahu T'ala that in that locality there was a great a'bid who was always absorbed in prayers. Allah Subhanahu T'ala asked the angel to start the azab (punishment) from that sage because despite all the injustices and wrongs being committed in that society, to use the words of the hadith, "the colour of his eyes did not change."

All I will say here is:

Dear Sufi brothers and sisters please do remember - it is from Islam to speak the truth even if it is bitter or against oneself.

And although I may disagree with MPACUK with regards to their stance on the relevance/importance of the creedal/theological affairs of the Deen – as I believe having a correct and Orthodox creed and methodology is paramount, an essential element and a part & parcel of causing the Revival of the Muslims - however I believe when hostile forces are engaged in attacking Muslims be it in words or spears whether from the Neo-Cons or Zionists etc - we must put sectarian/theological disputes aside – PRIORITISE - and defend Islam and all Muslims who are facing the onslaught.

And we certainly DO NOT ally with Neo-Cons/Zionists or other enemies of Islam against fellow Muslims- to score a sectarian point over them - at the expense of the interest of Islam!!

Aslamu alaykum,
I am grateful for the response by MPACUK, though you have again criticized the beliefs of Sufis and not exclusively the actions of the Sufis. Many Sufis are inactive and rightly so one and all should and must try and rectify this, inactivity however, is found in all denominations.
It is not the beliefs of the Sufis that leads to their inactivity, this is what is implied and said in the article on the 14th and this one also. This is what I and many others are hurt by.
The writer asks how many Sufis are standing up for Muslim rights and fighting Islamaphobia, I have already answered this question in a previous letter, there are many in the U.K. the author should not insult people if he /she ignorant of such organisations.
The author also criticises people for talking about he Sufi involvement in fighting the Russians, people only spoke about it after the author of the article on the 14th wrote the Sufis had helped to pacify Muslims in Russia which is factually incorrect.
That article painted a picture where the Sufis are the henchmen of governments, this is not our belief.
The author asks “Does any Sufi really believe that the Prophet PBUH would abandon the Jihad against oppression and sit around making excuses that he was seeking Allah by repetitively repeating his name and going off on spiritual holidays? “
Let me inform my Brother/Sister the answer is no, Sufis do not believe this but yet this belief is being ascribed to the Sufis by the author and that is what is so obnoxious about the two articles.
The Sufis do place importance on the remembrance of Allah but a Sufi also has social responsibilities as highlighted by the hadith mentioned in the first comment.
The Author goes on to say “MPAC did not attack true Tasawwuf, many of our members practice it”, if MPACUK see two groups claiming to be Sufi then, the only sensible thing to do is to call them by two different names, many have suggested pseudo-Sufis.
However the author also says “Do you remember any Sufi group doing anything as politicians and Media people attack you daily? As Millions of Muslims suffer due to Britain’s foreign policy?
The question is why not? If you can answer that – you will realize, that something very wrong is being taught by Sufi groups”

Sufi groups have done just this and I have answered this question before, what is being taught that is very wrong by the Sufi groups? Nothing is, some individuals may be teaching some very wrong things or perhaps a group which calls itself Sufi, but isn’t.

It is frustrating to see many themes that the author writes about, that the author questions I have wrote about and answered in previous letters, I am beginning to think, I am not too proficient at conveying my thoughts through writing.

If it is possible I would like telephone number which I could ring and perhaps I could present my views a little more clearly.

Thank you , God reward you for your efforts at reviving the Ummah, and allow us to see our errors.

I believe - the reasons why we see this pacification and defeatism of the Sufis and even the Tablighi Jamaat and also those Salafis who follow a certain persuasion are either due to:

1. Political shortsightedness and void of any insight in current affairs thus failing to priorities action, roles & responsibilities.
2. Ignorance of the methods of how to strategically and effectively defend Islam and the Muslims
3. or possessing a sectarian creed which ideologically destroys the Al-Wala’ wa’l-Bara’ of the Muslim – to the extent making one - treacherous to the Believers and an ally of the Neo-Cons and Zionists.

I believe all Muslims regardless of sectarian affiliation (especially the Sufis) in light of current affairs and shameful realities must fight pacifism and defeatism that is rampant within our ranks - which is stagnating our community.

We must not allow ourselves to “live in denial” any longer:

Denial (dĭ-nī’əl) is a defense mechanism in which a person is faced with a fact that is too painful to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence. Denial is the refusal to acknowledge the existence or severity of unpleasant external realities or internal thoughts and feelings.

1. We must learn to priorities our actions in light of circumstances which require more urgency, and have always an overall strategic outlook that best serves the interests of Islam and Muslims always in our current realties.

2. Revive the concept of Al-Wala’ wa’l-Bara’ within our communities – instill it in the youth - the fruit of which will increase the basic principle of brotherhood regardless of sectarian affiliation and zeal to defend Islam and all Muslims when attacked – when facing external hostile elements from Neo-Cons and Zionists or other enemies of Islam.

3. Educate our communities of the channels and resources that are available in order to defend our interests in the most efficient and effective way.

4. Expose and isolate the treacherous sell outs within our community who serve the enemies of Islam and cause harm to our community.

5. Enjoin co-operation amongst the various groups and organizations within our community in order to spearhead effective campaigns against hostile elements from the Neo-Cons and Zionists in defense of our interests.

Well written summation by MPAC. With respect to all denominations it should be stressed that Allah (swt)and HIs Messenger told us explicitly time and again, that they have perfected the faith, the Prophet (pbuh) said to the companions in his final days, that e who holds/grasps the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of his Messenger wil never go astray...the Deen is complete brothers and sisters, it requires no modification or enhancement in the fundamentals, of which worship is one.
