US political leaders "incompetent" & "corrupted"! - US General Print E-mail
Saturday, 13 October 2007

Lt Gen Ricardo SanchezA former US military chief in Iraq has condemned the current strategy in the conflict, which he warned was "a nightmare with no end in sight".

Retired Lt Gen Ricardo Sanchez also labelled US political leaders as "incompetent" and "corrupted".

He said they would have faced courts martial for dereliction of duty had they been in the military.

The best the US could manage under the current approach in Iraq was to "stave off defeat", Gen Sanchez warned.

"There is no question that America is living a nightmare with no end in sight," he said, addressing journalists at Arlington, near Washington.

'Desperate'

A catalogue of political misjudgements had paved the way for the insurgency after the fall of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, according to Gen Sanchez.

He blamed the US disbanding of the Iraqi military as well as the failure to set up swiftly civilian government and cement ties with tribal leaders.

The White House this year injected an extra 30,000 US troops into Iraq in the hope of stemming sectarian violence and sowing some political stability.

But Gen Sanchez branded this so-called "surge" strategy a "desperate attempt" to make up for years of shortcomings.

"The best we can do with this flawed approach is stave off defeat," he warned.

The White House responded by pointing to the report by current commander Gen David Petraeus and US Ambassador Ryan Crocker, who said the situation was difficult but marked by gradual improvements.

White House spokesman Trey Bohn said: "We appreciate his (Gen Sanchez's) service to the country... As General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker have said, there is more work to be done, but progress is being made in Iraq."

Gen Sanchez was commander of coalition forces in Iraq for a year from mid-2003.

He retired last year in the aftermath of the scandal over detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad. He was cleared of any wrongdoing.

The Conquest of New Spain ...: Quote

Looks like General Sanchez, the other whiter-than-white Hispanic, has developed Alzheimer's dementia like Attorney-General Gonzalez . Has he forgotten that he is himself responsible for

1. Fallujah (the first battle ) and US humimiliation and defeat
2. Fallujah (the second battle) and the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Sunnis in middle Iraq
3. Abu Ghraib
5. The theft of Iraq's oil
6. Sycophancy coupled with incompetence
7. Following the same corrupt and incompetent Bush and then criticising him when the Democratic Party is almost certain to win in 2008---in fact the only real election is between the Democratic Party's candidates themselves !

Interesting that the Iraq war (which Israel told the USA administration should not be a priority) will probably result in the Election of Democrats who are stronger supporters of Israel than the Republicans have turned out to be.

Rice is keen to keep selling Israel out just so that Bush can claim a victory in Israel/Palestinian peace.

We all want peace but not at the sacrifice of Israel's security since "no security" = "No peace".

Remember, its the USA that supports Israel - not only one party.

"Israels told the USA that Iraq should not be a target and that Iran and Syria held a greater threat to stability"

Mearshiemer (who wrote the book on the Israeli Lobby in the USA, on NPR September)

Saddam Hussein was definitely "speeding-up efforts" to produce biological and chemical weapons.

This is NOT the same as stating "Saddam has chemical and biological weapons", although we knew hid did have them from previous surveys of his laboratories where pre-cursors for chemical and biological weapons were found.

Hezbollah "gave Israel a bloody nose" you say.

So, considering that Hezbollah retreated from their initial invasion, suffered many times the casualties, had to be saved by a ceasefire - I don't think Israel are particularly bothered.

Israel recently went into Syria and destroyed a nuclear site without Syria being able to lay a finger on Israel.

That suggests Israel already controls the air over Syria and Syria knows it.

It is impossible to destroy Israel without being destroyed by Israel's nukes. So, I wouldn't bother hoping in case you get what you wish for.

.... and, Israel as a member of the UN has the automatic pledge to call upon the UN if attacked - which means USA, UK, France, Germany, Russia - to name a few who would have to attack the Arab countries attacking Israel.

Also, are the missile defences for Mecca and Medina secure?

I think not.

I don't think Israel will be attacked.

mpac mods why do you bother to have a policy about on topic comments only,if you are not going to enforce it.
the information coming from sanchez is further proof if required about the lies and deceit used by the bush regime to destroy iraq and kill and maim millions in iraq.
a prime example of a blood thirsty war monger if one was needed for bush and his buddies.

And for all that Shalom, the USA is still a staunch supporter of Israel.

Bills in suport of Israel get 90+% support from both houses and both sides.

Now, since these are democratically elected senators and congressmen then we can assume that of their own free will they are pro-Israel. Unless, you are going to tell us they are ALL Jewish, in which case the USA votes for them.

What hurts the Antisemites is that such a tiny part of humanity has the drive and intelligence to reach high office.

If you can't compete then call 'foul'.

Look, its quite amusing that you care so much that you are prepared to do so much cut & paste.

Do you have a summary?

If criticism of s country takes place when the same criticism about other countries could be made - but isn't - then you have to ask "What is unique about this country that gets criticised and blamed for things that don't attract the same criticism and blame".

For example, there doesn't have to be an overt "Arab Lobby" in order that Saudi Arabia can receive record arm deals from the USA. Surely the "Lobby" is through economic pressure.

What stranglehold does Saudi Arabia have over The USA, Britain and France.

If the Israeli Lobby were so powerful then hos come Saudi Arabia receives all these advanced armaments and defense items?

If there isn't corruption then how come British companies secure these arm deals.

But where is the public attack on Saudi Arabia for influencing Trade Policy and Arms Sales?

See, when ONLY Israel gets daily attacked when other countries get a free ride then what is it about those people that is different?

The conclusion is that its because its The Jewish State and the iconic Jew in country terms.

Why is it called "The Jewish Lobby" and not "The Israeli Lobby" consistently?

Why is it "Rich Jewish agricultural settlements" and not "Rich Israeli agricultural settlements"?

The reason is embedded Antisemitism that tries to find ways of leaking so closely to doubt that people get really creative to find ways of expressing it.

Like the use of the word "Zionist". But, fortunately some are too dumb to not realise the context often only points to one race.
