Zulfi Bukhari: Eid Mubarak message to MPACUK readers Print E-mail
Wednesday, 10 October 2007

mpaclogo.jpgThe glorious month of Ramadan has come to an end and the celebration of Eid ul Fitr has arrived. May Allah bless you all and answer our prayers for the coming year. The month has seen a superhuman effort from MPACUK to ensure that the Israeli Blood dates and the Muslim shop keepers who sell them are exposed to their public; we have raised the bar when it comes to lobbying against the increase in terror legislation from 28 days to 56 days and we readied our election teams in preparation of an election being called.

We saw the signs that Muslims fasted, prayed, reflected and performed actions for the sake of Allah - not just MPACUK but many individuals and some groups. The seeds of change are beginning to flower, after years of weeding and cultivating the Ummah. Thank Allah the signs are beginning to show.

And so with that positive note, the MPACUK team and I wish you all Eid Mubarak and hope that Allah’s blessings continue to be given to you all in great abundance.

On this joyous occasion, as we don our new clothes, eat sumptuous meals and receive lavish gifts, we also need to spare a thought for those less fortunate than us. Those who live under occupation with their land consficated, the mothers who are watching their children die in front of them and those who exist under tyrannical regimes. We must be truely grateful for what we have.

MPACUK would also like to give special thanks to all those who have donated some of their Zakat to MPACUK. Without your generous contributions we cannot do the work we do, and those who helped out in our campaigns, without you we couldn't have half the fun we did.

Together we can make a difference and together we can prove we are the difference.

Asslamoalaikum

We are once again as Muslims completely embarrassed by our own incompetence in coming to a consensus regarding Eid, that would absolutely benefit the whole Muslim community living in the UK

Why is it that we cannot follow Saudi? There is nothing wrong with following Saudi on starting fast &/or eid; I accept it may be a wrong day; but just imagine everyone in UK starting Fast & Celebrating Eid on same day - I cannot believe that God will be unhappy with us or ready to punish us if we were to start on wrong day but have complete unity in muslim in UK

We need one system – either all mosques in UK are “signed up” to follow UK Ruiyate Hilal Committee (which they are clearly not!) or The Coordination Committee of Major Islamic Centres and Mosques of London or just assign the Regents Park Mosque in London to be the lead mosque in UK & follow their decisions. Just focus on one system & ensure ALL mosques are “signed up” to it. At most, in worst case scenario, we will be wrong by one day but the practical benefits will surely outweigh the initial "wrong". It is year on year embarrassment for Muslims up & down the country to explain in schools & workplaces why there are different days for fasting & celebrating Eid. The Ulamas & Leaders need to have courage & make changes that will work in practice. Unfortunately for majority of Muslims in this country, there is significant lack of courage amongst our UK Islamic leaders at a time when we need strong, charismatic individuals to make difficult decisions that would transcend any cross-cultural mix & pseudo- political environment in the UK

Eid mubarak

Please remember in your thoughts and duah's that while we celebrate our Eid, many of our brothers and sisters around the world are suffering, we hope and pray that Allah (swt) deliver us from our afflictions.

To all those at MPACUK who continued to fight the good fight during Ramadhaan.

Eid Mabruk.
There are over 1 billion Muslims in the world, approx a 1/4 of worlds population.
Lets not make an issue about not being able to organise this huge population to pray Eid on a single day. If your intention is pure pray Eid according to your local masjid, where you normaly pray, and beg Allah (SWT) to guide us, forgive us, and protect us.
Lets enjoy Eid with open hearts and lets not fall into dissent or work to promote dissent.

Eid Mabruk to you and yours.
