Assault after assault, murder after murder, rape after rape. Bosnia, Chechnya, Gujarat, Kashmir, Indonesia, China, and of course Palestine.

It seems the Muslims have finally had enough. But have our leaders? Have the 2000 most powerful Muslim Leaders in the UK done anything to stop it? The 2000 men who hold more power then any other Muslim in the country. We are talking of course of the 2000 heads of the most powerful Muslim institutions in the UK - The Mosques.

In a poll on the MPAC website quite some months back, nearly 200 people voted saying the Mosque Leaders had failed to take action to stop the Iraq war, only 4 people voted to say they had done enough (probably the wives of the Mosque Leaders themselves?). In another poll where 366 people voted, nearly 89% of the Muslims voted that if the Mosque leadership was changed, UK Muslims could be mobilised to save lives around the world.

In short the Muslim community was saying the current 2000 most powerful Muslims in the country were costing Muslims lives. Thus not only totally incompetent, but worse - criminal. Even our letters page where in the past those who supported these Leaders would write in, defending the despots right to keep the public from knowing the failures of these men, as if the Mosque was a 'private family business', was strangely empty of any letters of support. Only one Muslim wrote in complaining, but when pushed he refused to say he supported the men who ran our institutions. Not one single letter from a single Muslim said they thought the current leadership had done a good job at all, let alone a great one. This is all the more strange since in the past these leaders have surrounded themselves with an aura of piety and no few die hard lackies who would email MPAC at the drop of a hat demanding we leave these mini dictators alone. (As if this mafia needed help).

Times are changing and quickly. As UK laws tie a noose around our necks and powerful men in the media set about the demonisation of UK Muslims, Muslims are realising that those who were supposed to protect their rights were in fact incapable of doing so. The internet has mushroomed and given Muslims access to whats really happening, but most of all mass emails from groups like MPACUK have brought to the attention of Muslims right around the UK the constant unending military style campaign being waged against them by zionist forces.

Muslims had never come across such complete intelligence in the past. A daily update given by (political) Jihad groups on what the zionists were doing has awakened many Muslims to the fact that the WAR against them was being waged right under their nose and on their doorstep from a western capital. Not only that it was happening, but how they were doing it. With this information it was inevitable that Muslims would start to wonder why the most powerful institutions in the country were idle, when the need was so great.

Why had these 2000 men failed to mobilise the community? Why had they failed in even the most basic steps in support of their brothers around the globe. Why had they not given even the most rudimentary help to a community in need? Why had they allowed the Zionists to attack Muslims in the UK and around the world without even lifting a single finger to protect our rights? Do these questions not need to be asked? Then ask yourself this - which group in the country is asking them? Why so few voices demanding change and so many trying to silence that voice of discord?

MPAC has fought a hard battle over the years to wake the community up. It a simple principle, that unless other Organisations were taking up the fight to protect the Ummah, we would inevitable lose. The enemy was a billion dollar, 24 hour million man machine. MPAC was never going to be able to protect the Ummah from its tentacles. Yet if we could convince the Muslims that the 2000 Most powerful Organisations in the country should take up the fight, somehowe activate them, we stood a chance. The 2000 men who run them seemed to disagree and have done everything they can to stay out of the battle to protect the raped and murdered Ummah. But for how long would we allow them this privilege?

It was a matter of time before sincere active Muslims heard our calls and understood that unless we replaced the current leaders of our Mosques with better, more intelligent men, with not only a higher IQ but a more active nature and an understanding of Government and the Media we would fail without so much as a fight. To hire these men would cost more no doubt, but I dont think any Muslim would argue it wasn't worth paying the price. These men would then be creating institutions that were futuristic and pioneering in our defense, mobilising, teaching and equipping the community with the skills required for a new century. They would be creating the building blocks for a new future, and a new active ummah. A future the current leaders simply refuse to create.

The 2000 most powerful men you see leading our greatest institutions now must go, not by evolution but by revolution. Monkeys will not become men in time (despite what the scientists tell you), waiting for improvement is pointless, time is something we have precious little of.

The revolution must be led by active men and women who understand that to stand a chance in the face of such opposition we need to create vibrant institutions, community centres, Nerve Centres, that will protect us and that will last over the centuries, directing and mobilising the community, instead of, as we currently have, active one man bands helping the Ummah from outside the mosques and mini me dictators within.

Instead of hiding the failures of the 2000 Most powerful muslims in the country, as if they were high class untouchables, they must be held to account, its time for a change, and not for excuses

If we fail, and no move is made to stop the rising tide of Islamaphobia around the UK, you will soon see the fruits of your inaction. God help the next geneation of Muslims. For the enemy is not sleeping. The words may seem tough to those who have never been asked to wake up by their sleeping scholars, but our words will be as nothing when they come to take your family with a knock on the door in the middle of the night. Only then will you scream and wish that MPAC had demanded more of the men that were tasked to protect you.

I totally agree with this article. Ever since I was a 10 year old student in the Masjid I've been trying to highlight this problem to the elders but they just brickwall everything. The only word to describe this is "criminal". This was 25 years ago and I knew then as a child what exactly was in store for the muslims of the future generations, the mess we are in today.

You need to somehow get Imam's in the Masjid who are fluent in English and can properly engage with the authorities of the land to make our voices heard. Transform the Quranic classes with a Nationally agreed Islamic Education Syllabus taught in English.

Imran Shah:

If you have 3 Muslims in a room you have 4 different opinions.

Here we are talking about changing the approach of thousands of muslim elders and imams, who often don't speak english well, who alienate themselves from society and hide in the mosques, who do not want 'politics in the mosque'and often teach a 'spiritual' path (some would say 'secular' (!) path).

Do we expect them to change? Please...

It's up to the second generation to step up and make there mark in the country - wisely, patiently and without rising to the bait that the government tries to throygh at us. Groups like MPAC are the future, our elders (sadly) are already in the past.

i totally agree,
maybe someone could list the main masjids in our areas and the we could petition them. its time we voiced our concerns, lets not suffer in silence. as muslims we are the majority from the minority (if that makes sense). now is the time we should make a stand. speak out against the injustice our brothers and sisters are facing, voicing our concern is our 'jihad'. let our brother and sisters know we are with them. the mosques are there for this use.

I also agree with this article. The children don't really listen to the imams and the imams don't listen to the children, it's vice versa. We need imams that have knowledge about what's going on around the world and pass it on to the next generation. Something has to be done to stop the brutal killing.

Why do we need mosques to get involved in politics? Why not just grow MPAC and other organisations to do the job that the mosques are not doing.

This would be easier, quicker and cause less stress. Lets be realistic (a facet of Muslim leaders). All you need is a person with an email list in every town with a decent muslim population that people can join.

Simple. Its not rocket science y'know.
