Why the Need for Institutional Reform Print E-mail
Sunday, 08 July 2007

Do our Institutions really need reforming is a question which is going through your mind.

These are turbulent times. Whilst at one level we can blame others for our problems, it would be entirely dishonest to say that Muslims themselves have no part to play in this downturn.

A look within the Muslim community highlights a principle reason for our significant failure. Our institutions, the Mosques have failed us. During the time of the Prophet, Mosques were the centre of all activities. Policies were made within the Mosque, welfare was distributed from the Mosque, even the commercial world revolved around the Mosque.

Today we are a far cry away from such ideals. In this section we hope to provide assistance in reforming these institutions so they can be of use to us all, Muslim and non-Muslim alike.
