About Islamic Institutions (Mosques) Print E-mail
Sunday, 08 July 2007

In early days of Islam, a mosque was more that just a place for spiritual solace. It also served as an educational and community-service centre. Community affairs were deliberated upon in the sublime serenity of the mosque.

In Britain, where Muslims constitute a minority living in a society undergoing far reaching changes, the mosque stands as an important bulwark of Muslim identity and community integrity. Mosques have not just played a vital and meaningful role as the focus of religious activities, but also as centres for Islamic Learning and Social Development.
