Recycling At Work Print E-mail
Sunday, 29 October 2006

Inspired to start recycling at work? Here are some more tips to help you begin.

Start with the basics

Set up a recycling scheme for scrap paper.  Make sure recycling bins are close to people's desks - so it's easier to recycle it than bin it.

Giving your equipment a second chance

Make use of computer and electronic recycling schemes for old equipment.  Contact your local council or ICER (the Industry Council for Electronic Equipment Recycling) or REI (the Regional Electronics Initiative).

Buy smart

When buying printers, photocopiers and fax machines, choose ones with options for two-sided printing.

Stretching the envelope

Reuse envelopes for internal circulation and, if possible, with a sticker for external mail.

Drinks cans

Set up an aluminium recycling scheme at the office, especially if you have a vending machine with canned drinks.  It's also a good way to raise money for charity. Find out more about recycling aluminium from Alupro, and about how your chosen charity could benefit.

Try composting

Compost food waste from lunches etc, either in your workplace or through a local authority composting scheme.
