Mirza Tahir Hussain’s stay for execution has been extended until the 1st October 2006. Whilst this proves to be some relief for his family it proves that there still has not been enough done to prevent this execution.
Whilst more and more human rights groups call for the execution to be stopped, President Musharaf has claimed that he will try to find “some way of doing justice”. It seems that whilst he may acknowledge that the case for execution is flimsy and inhumane he will do nothing to keep the life of the suffering victim.
Yet it is not just Musharaf who has sold out on Hussain, as the Pakistani Embassy in this country seem to have had little to say about the fact that they are not standing up for this British Pakistani. When MPACUK tried to communicate with them, we received no response as to why they are failing to defend Hussain.
It seems that time and time again the Pakistani Authorities are failing to defend the rights of British Pakistani’s; who often receive nothing but grief when on trips to Pakistan. It seems that the authorities no longer care about those whom they have little control over.
It is vital that we do not allow this to continue, nor do we allow Hussain to suffer an execution because of the corruption of Pakistan. Please use the following details to continue writing in support of Hussain, in order for justice to be achieved.
