Lets Prove the Zionists Right - Demonstrate in Manchester on the 23rd and help oust Blair Print E-mail
Wednesday, 06 September 2006

Stop the War coalition are calling on people to make sure they demonstrate outside the Labour Party Conference held on September 23rd in Manchester.

Evidence of just how important it is to get there and make your views heard are the 'growing fears' expressed in the Jewish Chronicle this week by Labour supporters of Israel  that the Prime Minister Tony Blair will be 'pilloried' over his support for Israel, warning that

unprecedented criticism of the government’s Middle East policy will be used as a “stick to beat” Tony Blair at Labour’s upcoming conference,

Mike Gapes, Ilford MP, Israel-supporter and chairman of the all-party Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Select Committee mentioned  ‘unease’ amongst Labour Party members, about the conference, and Jewish Labour Movement chair and Liverpool Riverside MP Louise Ellman told the Chronicle that

"some of Israel’s critics would be additionally motivated by a desire to “get rid of Blair”.

The Chronicle states that the Zionists are organising to win labour support to Israel’s cause and also reveals where Blair’s sympathies are:

Mr Blair is expected to defy his detractors by addressing Labour Friends of Israel’s conference fringe meeting. Labour Friends of Israel director Dan Fox said, “We will be hosting a number of Israeli Labour Party officials to help put Israel’s case.”

The Demonstration will take place on Saturday 23rd of September outside the Labour Party Conference in Manchester.  Assemble at 1pm in Albert Square.  For more information see the Stop the War website at www.stopwar.org.uk

I don't know where people get the idea that Labour's conference starts on Saturday 23rd September.

It's billed as from the 24th to the 28th September inclusive. The demo will be more effective on the Sunday than the Saturday.

If you really want to be effective, why don't you demonstrate on the Tuesday when the Prime Minister will address the nation not just Conference.

You get many more people attending on a Saturday. The fact that there won't be anything significant going on in the conference itself isn't so important. In fact, it could be a plus because the demonstration will be given more media prominence if it isn't competing with other conference goings-on.
