| Hundreds March Against Beckett In Derby As MPACUK Teams Up With Leaders |

It is a testament to the Muslim leaders of Derby that they are the only local Leaders in Britain to have taken any real practical action in this crisis. Most Muslim Leaders have been pathetic. We urge Muslims to reflect for a bit. For all our pain, and our anger, look around you exactly what did our Leaders do during this conflict? Most mosques didn’t even pray for the dead! In one local Mosque an MPAC team member had to stand up in outrage and do the Dua aloud during the Friday prayer because the Imam refused to even mention the conflict (the committee had told him not too, we later found out). What of the so called “student emirs” – can you really name a single student Islamic society that has taken any practical action during this crisis? All our leaders did at most was the same old tired “lets go for a march” and “lets send money”. Both pointless; in any real practical terms, they were a waste of time. As usual MPACUK has led the way in this crisis. Over the years MPACUK has brought new tactics to Britain’s Muslims from “Alerts” against journalists who attack and demonise us to ground campaigns against MP’s who have supported illegal and brutal regimes. While other groups “talked” big on Islam, we did something to protect it. During this crisis MPACUK has taken action as best we could, considering our limited manpower and financial resource. We had volunteers who had joined us in Birmingham, Bolton, and Ilford and in these areas MPACUK has taken on their MP’s to demand they speak out against Israel. As we grow and we establish teams in other areas and as more Muslims come forward who want to really make a difference we will do much, much more. – (find out how below). We have lobbied over 30 MP’s, distributed over 30,000 Leaflets against MP’s in Muslim constituencies who were silent in this crisis, and contacted over 200 Muslim groups in Britain urging and begging them to take some practical action. (most refused or made excuses). Today was another success as Derby Muslims heeded MPAC’s call for action and spoke up in hundreds. Working along side MPACUK Muslim Leaders with the courage to act made a practical challenge against those who all too often allowed the innocents to die around the world, while they clung to power. Beckett only has a two thousand majority in a town of ten thousand Muslims. And yet unbelievably she still backed Israel. The reason is simple, she knew Muslims were politically ignorant and would vote for her again and again no matter what she did. Not any more. Finally we had men and women to stand up and with courage demand some justice for the people who have none. We salute you Muslims of Derby; thank Allah that Jihad (struggle for justice for the sake of God) is not dead in your hearts. To those who are reading his – do not be a hypocrite in this time and watch your brothers and sisters die. 1. Join MPACUK and take the fight up in your area call 0870 760 5594 2. Or fund us – and finally stop the political and military backing Israel gets from its supporters in the west. (see: http://www.mpacuk.org/content/view/2393/1/) Readers have left 8 comments.

Margaret Beckett's majority is actually 5,657.
With nearly 10,000 Muslims in Derby South it is still a very vulnerable seat but only if the anti-Beckett vote is NOT split by a fourth party like Respect. MPACUK watch out for the Socialist Worker Party glory hunters!

i think you have to factor in the way the government with its rhetoric and anti terror laws has specifically targeted imams, mosques and the people who attend.
maybe some of the reluctance is to not have their doors knocked down in early morning raids or their mosques shut down. dont forget about the implicit and explicit threats from government and our very helpful newsmedia that will demonise at the drop of a hat. people have to be convinced that what you are fighting for is worth the 'hassle' of being in the 'frontline' against blairs neo conservative dream. and that what they are standing up for is not a tool for the governmental authorities to abuse.

with ref. to Wendy Mann's coment Muslims are very vulnerable in this country, yesterday I wrote to my local MP that I am concerned about what's happening in middle east and this conservative MP accused me of sympathising with the terrorists.

We must not be afraid to express our legitimate opinions on foreign policy, even when we're smeared as extremists/ terrorist sympathisers for doing so. Asim - Why don't you forward a copy of your MPs reply to MPACUK and they could expose him on this website? Or maybe post it on the MPACUK forum - let everyone know what he thinks of his Muslim voters!

asim siddiqui: How was the Mp that accused you of "sympathising with the terrorists"? We need to expose him for such as blatant islamaphobic comment.
