I was woken up when 9/11 took place.

I had felt frustrated, scared and isolated when 7/7 occurred.

I felt hurt, offended and finally obligated to defend my Ummah actively when they attacked my hero in my life, prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

I joined MPAC.

And that is a journey that has just begun

My frustrations from everyday attacks on Muslims have seemed to ease up slightly. The means of these attacks have become clearer - through Media, foreign policies, lobbying groups, politicians, and corporations. It has become evident that there are hidden agendas of those who dislike Islam and will use every opportunity to demolish and criminalise it. I have seen how strong, organised and productive these groups are worldwide.

To me, as a Muslim and a British citizen I have seen how the current climate of oppression and Islamaphobia does not only affect Muslims but all of mankind. As laws are passed to demolish our civil liberties it is only the beginning of the struggle.

As MPAC strengthens, I believe it will become harder for those who oppress others. Whether it be extremists who claim to be Muslims or those who insist on holding ‘terror suspects’ without trial for up to 90 days; banning hijabs in schools and the list goes on...

Reading a newspaper article demonising Islam often left me feeling that I have been personally attacked. Joining MPACUK has given me a platform to question those who lie, a platform to fight to bring out the truths that are hidden. May Allah grant us success in defining the next generation of our Ummah:

EMPOWERMENT, JUSTICE, PEACE

Fund a group that is making a difference, don’t debate, don’t talk, don’t make excuses, just for once do something practical.

Wow! The writer has really put into words how I've felt with felt with all the events we have going on around us in the last few years. Either we stick our heads in the sand, or we cope by doing whatever we can to make things better!
