Action Alert: Beckett In Silent Agreement With Intensifying Israeli Attacks - Demand Action! Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 July 2006

It has been over a week and our Foreign Office has not condemned Israel's continued attack on Gaza or raised the issue of this act of collective punishment being against international law. Margaret Beckett, British Foreign Minister has refused to make any comments thus in her silence she is effectively supporting the acts of the Israeli government. Our politicians must be held to account!

The assault on the Palestinian people has reached a new and terrifying level. The Israeli government have imposed a brutal blockade on the Palestinians, resulting in deliberate starvation, destroyed Gaza's water and electricity supplies, creating death and disease. Vital bridges and roads have been destroyed. 51 Palestinians including 20 children have been killed this month alone. 10,000 Palestinian political prisoners including imprisioned including 100 women and 300 children and arrested half the elected government and a quarter of elected MPs. Furthermore, Britain has an arms trade agreement with Israel and these weapons are being used against Palestinians right now in Gaza - we have to demand Britain end this agreement. It is imperative that the British government condemn the war crimes of the Israeli government.

A targeted response from each and every one of us is needed in this current emergency!

The government of Israel must:

  • Stop violating international law and UN resolutions
  • End the collective punishment of the Palestinians
  • Stop the shelling and bombing of Gaza
  • End its illegal occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem and remove its settlements
  • Respect the right of the Palestinians to a viable independent state
  • Respect the right of return of refugees
  • Dismantle its illegal apartheid wall built on stolen Palestinian land

We urge you to contact your MP and arrange meetings, bringing the above to their attention. As our representatives in Parliament they are obligated to respond to our concerns and subsequently represent them accordingly.

To find your MPS telephone number go to www.upmystreet.com

Contact your MEPs to call for EU funding to be fully reinstated to the Palestinian Authority.

To find your MEP go to www.europarl.org.uk/uk_meps/MembersMain.htm

During this crucial time we all need to monitor the media and ring immediately to complain when clear pro-Israeli bias is being used to misrepresent the situation.

What are the 14,000 odd Muslims in Margaret Beckett's constituency (Derby South) doing?

Shame on them for not holding her to account.

MPACUK needs to go down and teach them some politcal Jihad.

Does anybody have any contacts for MPAC in Derby South?

Brilliant article which shows the daily suffering of the people of Gaza. The UN has called it a humanitarian crisis but I have no confidence in the UN after they presided over 10yrs of unjust sanctions against Iraq after the first gulf war sanctions which caused the death of over half a million children from starvation and disease. I suppose the crime of the Palestinians is to have elected HAMAS. So much for Bush's declaration of bringing freedom and democracy for the people of the middle east! The Swiss have been the solitary voice in condemnation of the brutalality of the Israelis.

The Israeli policy first of provocation then retaliation by death and destruction and heavy handedness in Gaza is despicable. I recall the screams of the 11yr old girl on the beach whose whole family were wiped out by an Israeli shell. In retaliation two Israeli soldiers are killed and one captured. What do we get? 33 Palestinians killed including many children, bridges destroyed, electricity stations bombed, destruction of water supplies all this on an already starved population.Half of the Palestinian government and a quarter of the elected MP's have been taken as hostage. This amounts to collective punishment of one and half million inhabitants of Gaza which is against the Geneva Convention. The Swiss are alone in condemning the actions of the Israelis. The UN has called it a humanitarian crisis but then I have no respect for the UN because they presided over 10 years of unjust sanctions against Iraq after the first Gulf war causing the death of over half a million Iraqi children due to disease and starvation. There are 10,000 political prisoners in Israel including 100 women and 300 children. Are their lives worthless in comparison to the one Israeli soldier captured? An illegal wall is being built annexing even more Palestinian land and separating Palestinians from their farms, schools and hospitals. The Palestinians crime is to have elected Hamas. So much for Bush's declaration of bringing Freedom and democracy to the Middle East! I feel helpless against this daily torture of a whole nation.

These politicians think the Muslim community is stupid, they remain silent on Israeli war crimes, and actively take part in starving the people of Gaza.

The only way to deal with them is to maek them fear the politcal power of the Muslim community. We have the numbers to put the fear of god in them. We just need to be more pro-active in using the power.

I think, with all the best intentions in the world, the MPACUK are being a little over optimistic by suggesting that Beckett should break her silence! Like shirin Wahid puts it very nicely, shame on those Muslims who are not voicing their grave concerns about the poor Palestinians!

A LETTER FROM MY M.E.P
11 July 2006

Dear Mullah Din,

Thank you for your email drawing my attention to the plight of Palestinians in Gaza. As a member on the European Union Sub-committee on Human Rights I have long been concerned with the situation in the Middle East, and the continued bloodshed claiming the lives of innocent people. I have strongly campaigned for the rights and liberties of civilians in the region to be respected, and will continue to do so. Your link to the images of so many poor, young Palestinians truly made an impression on me, and will be something that will stay in mind for a long time.

I have written to Margaret Beckett to ask for her condemnation of Israeli air strikes currently taking place in Gaza, and will of course forward you any response I receive. I would like you to know that my colleagues and I strongly condemned the construction of the wall in the Occupied West Bank as well as the occupation of East Jerusalem. I have also raised objections to the suspension of EU aid to Hamas and Palestine. Israel’s track record of human rights in Palestine has been patchy to say the least, but I feel that we in the EU have more leverage than we care to realise, and should work on maintaining diplomatic ties with both parties. Open dialogue is the best path forwards to constructing a lasting peace.

Please rest assured that I will continue to campaign against human rights violations against Palestinians, and call for fair and equitable treatment of both parties in this conflict.

Yours sincerely,

Liz Lynne MEP

IMPORTANT!! PLEASE READ THIS BECAUSE YOU MUST KNOW WHAT YOUR LEADERS ARE DOING

Yesterday, a UN Resolution was drafted urging both Israel and Hamas to show restraint. It was a balanced resolution seeking an end to the conflict. 10 members of the permanent 15 supported the resolution and 4 abstained. UK was one of those that abstained.

There are 5 permanent members who have a veto, US, China, France, Russia and UK. A veto effectively kills a resolution. US Ambassador John Bolton was quick to exercise the veto, and now the UN resolution to send a message of peace and restraint out is dead. The US argument? The draft was one-sided against Israel. The dam thing called for the release of the Israeli soldiers and for Hamas to stop firing rockets as well as Israeli halt to collective punishment for crying out loud!!! That's not one sided!! It just goes to show that the US is drenched in hypocrisy, and the UK is both impotent and complicit in the massacre of Muslims by the zionist regime.

Response from the Glorious Quran to Stephen Blowers on his comment above.

Taken from Chapter: 3 Verses: 65-68.

" Ye people of the Book! why dispute ye about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have ye no understanding?
Ah! Ye are those who fell to disputing (even) in matters of which ye had some Knowledge! But why dispute ye in matters of which ye have no knowledge? It is Allah Who knows, and ye who know not!
Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he was Upright, and bowed his will to Allah's, (Islam means - submission to God's will) and he joined not gods with Allah.
Without doubt, among men, the nearest of Kin to Abraham, are those who follow him, as are also this Prophet and those who believe: and Allah is the protector of those who have faith."

What seperates men and nations in the sight of God, (The Creator), are our deeds, not our race or ethnicity.
