Another meandering, self-justifying and self-pitying article by Robert Fisk. Mr. Fisk continues to name drop as he attempts to present the arguments for the factions he favours.
Sure the Jews / Zionists say some pretty awful things. So do Muslims! I urge you to ask yourselves one simple question. "If Mr. Fisk is such a good friend of the Palestinians, why is he silent about the extreme human rights violations carried out by the Palestinian factions upon Palestinians?" Where has he been when so called "collaborators" have been summarily executed by self-appointed judge, juries & executioners; their bodies left to rot in the sun onthe streets of Palestine? And of these so-called collaborators, how many are really victims of property disputes? If it weren't so serious, Mr. Fisk would be an amusing character in some satirical play.

Benari once again will do anything but admit the vil and all powerful influence of Zionists like him who are pushing the west into a third world war and creating a climate of hatred against muslims.
The sooner Zionists are exposed everytime they abuse the system for their own benefit the better, Well done Fisk - tough luck Benari, maybe you should go back and kill some Palestinian kids as your sort seem to like doing.

What about the horribe things Muslims say? It doesn't justofy the attrocities caused by Israel - to say that "Muslims also do it to their fellow Muslims". Who are you trying to fool?
If you really were objective and unbiased on the subject, S. Benari, then you would condemn the actions by both parties, not bring out one;s faults to justify the other's. Palestinians are corrupt. No doubt about it. But that doesn't give Israel the legal right to do as they pleae with the Palestinians - "coz they are terrorists"!? Get a grip.

The shrill reaction of the Zionists is all too predictable and the old chestnut of falsley accusing the authors of anti-Semitism proves their point. Their article was an excellent piece of work that attempts to open up a rational debate on the subject of US foreign policy. Good work.

Are there any Urdu, Bengali and Arabic translators around? This report ought to be translated into these languages and ought to be made available in every masjid and community centre.

For those that do not like what I write, I ask simply one question. "Why have we repeatedly been pretending that what the Zionists do is so much worse than what any of the other factions do?"
If Muslims are morally better than Jews because of Islam, then shouldn't we expect higher standards of Muslims? I suggest that we can never be taken seriously until we get our own backyard in order. We have been throwing away the lives our children so long now that we no longer even notice it. If we cannot stop killing one another, how on earth will even the smallest Palestinian state come into being? Mr. Fisk represents a group of journalists who long ago compromised their position in pursuit of a story. To understand this process and its implications read Lawrence Randall's book "The Tragedy of Lebanon". Actually the tactics used by the PLO factions and Hamas are stupid and unproductive. If you want to beat the Israelis, understand their singular weakness and then exploit it. If you live alongside them you soon learn that war and death is something that Jews learnt to live with a long long time ago. By their own measurement you need to kill about 10,000 each day to be close to breaking their will to fight. This figure is the number of people killed daily in Auschwitz at its peak. If you want to stop the Israeli troops, politeness, calm and a simple gesture of common humanity would have more effect than any bullet or bomb. Palestinian kids would be better handing out flowers to them instead of becoming shaheeds. Of course that would require acknowledging that they are human beings.

Muslims will have their own back yard in order the day they have their own good leadership, weapons and a balance of power to the West and once they do, it's not a question of if, but when 'Israel' gets brought to account. The Prohphet (pbuh) did not wait to redeem himself but he fought injustice with the truth and through force if necessary. This is what Muslims should do. The first thing to do is to wake up and make ourselves aware of the dangers facing the community and particularly from those who are trying hard to turn us from the right path. 'Israel' never understood the meaning of peace. It's sole purpose is to do away with Arabs and Muslims altogether.

Dear Bilal,
I am sadden by your words. If you go to Israel / Palestine and you look at what the Jews achieved by themselves, and the values of tolerance that they uphold, I think you will be surprised. Even Edward Said had to acknowledge that. The Zionists do not want to destroy Islam or Muslims or even Arabic identity. If they did there would not be Arabic on every road sign, or Arabic Muslims schools, or mosques, or all their coins and bank-notes, nor would all laws be published in Arabic. At the beginning of the 20th century moderate Palestinian nationalists acknowledged that partnership between the Zionists and the Palestinians would produced immense benefits for both sides. Unfortunately once Amin El-Husseini assumed power he eliminated this moderate view by killing its proponents and sought only to destroy not only the Zionists but all the Jews in Palestine. The chance for something better was lost, and it all descended into a terrible conflict in which neither sides benefits. I think the dangers that the Muslim community really face are almost exclusively from within, and most seriously it has to do with reciognising that the Islamic empires can never be resurrected, nor can the Islamic countries carry on the way they are going if they are not to be eclipsed by the entire world. The first step we should take is to step away from the ridulous posturing as warrior / fighters and put away the guns and bombs. All these fighters end up preying upon the Muslim community when the war is over, and the fighters only rationale is war. Muslims as well as Jews must re-learn the true meaning of Salaam ~ Shalom.

I do not believe for a moment that you are saddened by my words. If the zionists are not against Arabs and Muslims then why did they steal their land a create a state for Jews only, to come on settle on Arab land and claim it as their own? As the recent paper on the pro-Israel lobby shows, the pro-Israel lobby is doing it's best to engender a hatred of Muslims and Arabs throughout the world. And what are these 'moderate' Palestinians you are talking about - are they the ones who voted Hamas - the majority? They have spoken and now the zionists must face the fact that Hamas represents the viewpoint of most Muslims.

S.Benari,You say Islamic empires can never be resurected, if the enemies of Islam thought that, then why are they trying so hard to fight Islam? Who are you trying to fool? Yourself? Look at history, it's all rise and fall, but the vitory shall be for Islam. Israel protector US and Israel will fall in time. Jews are supremacists, that just can't get over the fact that the Messenger of Allah is not jewish, even judiaism prophesises Him. Historically they killed the Prophets sent to them, even tried to do away with Jesus(AS) son of Mary(AS). Well i guess they claim that God gave them the land, and that they were chosen by God, and I'm sure GW Bush thinks so as well, do you really think that is the reward for killing Prophets?
