After the danish cartoons were published many Masajid tried to do something positive by holding an open day or setting up a talk (usually for Muslims). However the Manchester Islamic Centre in Didsbury organised a week long exhibition and opened their doors to everyone. The feedback from visitors to the Masjid exhibition was fantastically positive. Many people that had grown up knowing Muslims finally understood their beliefs. People went away and returned with friends to see the exhibition and on the final Friday of the exhibition, six people took Shahadah directly through visiting the Masjid exhibition and speaking to Masjid staff. So how do you run an Islamic exhibition? It must be difficult! If we tell you that all the posters, displays and exhibits are available to book by any Masjid or exhibition centre through exhibitionislam.com, you will understand that setting this up is actually really easy. The only thing you need is a rota of individuals available for visitors to speak to and to explain what each exhibit is. This is where you, MPACUK and other members of the public come in. Most Masajid need people to run these activities and the other disciplines that MPACUK have been advocating over the last 5 years. All of the open days, homework clubs and meetings with MPs councillors etc. can only happen through volunteers. That means you! Readers have left 2 comments.

Salaam,
At Edinburgh Central Mosque we held a week-long exhibition too, with posters we made specially to cover the life and character of the Prophet (s). This will be part of the huge exhibition we're putting on in August insha'Allah.
