Last night MPACUK got a call from Westminster University , they told us that due to threats they could not host the event as they could not guarantee our safety. We were dumb struck, how could they buckle to violence! MPACUK have since been trying to contact the University seniors (the two people in question are: Claire Maidstone and the Vice-Chancellor Geossrey Copland) but they have refused to even discuss or give a formal explanation to us despite MPACUK piling on the pressure for an explanation. The University have been very unfair to say the least, they knew that 90 people (approximately) had booked to attend this event at their venue, yet they only gave us 3 days notice for this cancellation!

If it had been a Muslim group who had done this it would have been plastered all over the Daily Mail, and Express by now, with Zionist writers saying we are curtailing ‘freedom of speech’ and “Muslim extremists had stopped the liberty we enjoy in Britain and we should all be expelled.

Now they themselves were using the dirty tactics of violence and threats, and not a whisper from any of their journalists.

But as the Muslim media started to call the University and hundreds of calls flooded them, the Vice chancellor reacted.

''The University has very firm policies on religious belief and tolerance. If the University feels that any person has contravened, or is likely to contravene, these policies on its premises it will take action. It has a contractual right to cancel any room booking under these circumstances.''

They didn’t mention any threats at all! So why tell us something else the day before? Plus did that mean that the University is equating Zionism with religion? Since their policy seems to only cover religion they didn’t have a leg to stand on with that clause. Zionism is a political ideology - NOT a religion.

But what of religious intolerance? Have any of them read the book to claim this? What grounds did they have to make this assertion? Is debate around Israel no longer allowed, nor the Ideology that created it?

Something was seriously wrong, something sinister was afoot. Something smelled like a rat, then retracting even this statement they issued a second press release saying:

“Further, the room booking was granted in the belief that it was a University alumna holding a book launch. In fact, the event centers on an author with no connection to the University.''

In fact it was made by a student of the University who wanted to hear the debate, and the university knew that full well, to prove it we have a letter from them titled "MPAC book promotion"

The last pathetic excuse was that the contract said specifically that "we could not charge for the event!"

Now let us tell you about that. We had promoted this event for three weeks, the never gave us a hint we needed a contract or that one existed for a booking (we book places all the time, either they dont bother, else they give us the contract as soon as we agree we want the place). But the university waited three weeks, then out of the blue this last friday afternoon, they gave us a contract, which we told them needed to be signed by the CEO and looked over by a solicitor, we then gave our copy to a volunter solicitor on Moday to check. On tuesday they called us to cancel - because we broke the contract!

So not only do they give us the contract three weeks after we advertise the event, they give us one day to check it with a solicitor! No business in the country could operate that fast, and we are all part time volunteers!

Even then a common courtesy would have been to call us. Such is the contempt ofr Muslim groups they didnt even bother to call us about it. One wonders if they would have dared to do that to any other community. We are after all second class citizens. We would have gladly cancelled the fee and paid out of our pockets, if they asked us. We haven't collected a penny for the event, and only charged to pay the cost of the event.

The campaigns team decided to dig. After a number of calls the truth emerged. The president of the Students Union “Shaleen Alan” told us that it was because the UJS, the Union of Jewish Students had demanded it be cancelled. After secret meetings with the chancellor, which the chancellor’s office refused to confirm or deny, they had pulled the plug. Pressure by a student’s body had gotten it cancelled.

One question that needed to be asked was what the Student Islamic society was doing while all this was happening. Remember MPACUK are always stating that unless Muslim groups wake up and start looking for opportunities to defend their rights we could never fight such a big enemy, this surely proved the point. If the Jewish Students society could get the venue cancelled, why had the Muslim student’s society not also been awake enough to ensure it went ahead, if one could lobby against us without MPACUK asking them too, could the other not lobby on our behalf without us specifically requesting them too?

Tough questions needed to be asked, and answered.

So many, many Muslims have called and supported us. Thank you. FOSIS in particular among Muslim groups needs to be thanked. We ask Muslims to please join us, please fund us. Please do not let them win. Attend the MPACUK open day this Sunday and learn the art of lobbying for the sake of justice and freedom, aka the political and media Jihad.
