MPACUK Platform Issues Guide

If you want to guage your prospective Parliamentary candidate, please take a look at the following platform issues document. 

Hopefully this will provide you all with a barometer on how to vote and how to judge local candidates.

Domestic Policy:

  • Combat and address social and economic deprivation of Muslim Youth in terms of:  educational attainment, jobs, career progression and community facilities.

  • Protect Civil Liberties, the presumption of innocence & combat anti-Muslim bias.

  • Develop Muslim political engagement via capacity building & partnership working between political parties, Muslim public interest organisations and young Muslims.

  • To ensure Mosques are aided in developing teaching programs to understanding democracy and political participation to combat disinfranchised youth turning to extremism.

Foreign Policy:

Israel


  • Israel to comply with all outstanding UN resolutions.

  • Rapid progress for the rights of the Palestinians including compensation:

  • Publicly support objectives of the Middle East Road Map as a minimum,

  • To publicly condemn the Israeli Wall,  call for its demolition & compensation for damages,

  • Compensation from Israel to the EU for destruction of EU funded development projects.

  • Compensation from Israel to the Palestinian peoples for illegal occupation and destruction of property, livelihood & civic structures since 1948.

  • Protection of the Al-Aqsa Haram Sharif - especially it's status as Muslim Waqaf,

  • Sanctions against Israel until it complies with international law and stops being an apartheid state that persecutes and discriminates against its Arab citizens.

  • No derogation of the individual and collective right of return of Palestinian refugees.

Iraq

  • Development of an independent, democratic, functional & sovereign Iraq.

  • Withdrawal of foreign troops at the earliest opportunity.

Kashmir

  • A democratic solution in line with UN resolutions.

Gujarat 

  • No state complicity in ethnic cleansing of Muslims

  • Protection of freedom of religious expression

Former Soviet Block & China

  • Protection of freedom of religious expression

  • Protection from persecution & discrimination.
  • No more torture of Muslims in the so called "War Against Terror"

Iran and Syria

  • No invasion of Iran or Syria.

General

  • No invasion of any country unless that country attacks us, i.e. Britain.

  • No wars for Oil.

  • No wars based on lies. (WMD)

To all our readers, we at MPACUK urge you to present the above platform issues to your prospective parlimentary candidate who is running in the General Elections on 05/05/05.

Ask them these 4 questions

1. Why YOU should vote for them and where  they stand on the above issues.

2. Have they fulfilled any of these objectives and do they aim to do so over the next four years?

3. What have they done for YOU as a British Muslim over the past four years?

4. Would they be willing to vote against their party whip on these issues?

Use your vote intelligently and effectively this coming May. Remember YOUR vote counts - use it!
