From the Friends of Al-Aqsa - Supporters of the state of Israel are planning its 60th Birthday celebrations around the world. The Palestinians are also marking this day as the 60th anniversary of the Nakba the catastrophe that cost them their homeland and made them refugees for 6 decades. The brutal occupation continues and every day, Palestinians continue to be killed by the Israeli army who shows little consideration for life and property.

There is no doubting that the collective voice and sentiments of the Muslim community in the corridors of power is glaringly silent, subsequently our influence upon the output of government policy is limited to say the least. It was the desire to remedy this situation and the inevitable marginalisation that gave genesis to MPACUK and it is why this endeavour is necessary. In keeping with this principle we have established a campaign to publicise the opinions of M.P’s to inform the respective constituents as to the views of their elected officials. Members of parliament serve as our representatives. Their remit is to serve as a channel for our aspirations and indeed our frustrations and to convey them to the executive. It is due to this reason that it is vital we are intimately familiar of their views on issues which will tangibly impact our lives.
The Birmingham branch has therefore conducted two in depth and refreshingly candid interviews with two local Birmingham M.P’s; John Hemming MP of the Liberal Democrats and former Labour cabinet minister Clare Short now an independent. They discussed with them a wide spectrum of topics ranging from British foreign policy and its effects, the very prescient issue of the Israeli occupation of Palestine and domestic political engagement. The resounding message gleaned from both these interviews is that greater participation by the Muslim community is a requisite to ensure we have a greater stake and influence in the decisions that will determine our destinies.

It never failed to amaze me how most people justified Israel’s terrorist agenda on the Palestinian people. It never failed to amaze me how most people ignored Israel’s mass
murders, human rights abuses, broken United Nations resolutions and
countless other atrocities.

A great post here by a member of the public called Sultan, we look forward to his thought out arguments here. Do you agree or disagree please comment and we may post your comment as an article for others to comment on. The reasons why Mosques are failing us (or Children and the young) are very clear.

A respected if angry member of the public too issue with MPACUK and
another member of the public's post 'the hook', saying the mosques were
far from perfect. Here the poster named 'Saeed' hits back at MPACUK.
Since MPACUK believe in accountability (unlike the mosques) we felt the
poster should have the right to speak out against MPACUK in his comment. Read on for the comment by 'Saeed'

To date, the Muslim Public has been taught by various Islamic groups to
do a variety of actions to help the Palestinians. Unfortunately, these
actions are at best simply not effective and at worst harmful. Here is
a list of measures some of our well-known Muslim leaders have asked us
to take.

Everyday Muslims take part in an auspicious act where they show their obedience and gratitude to Allah and pray five times a day. This beautiful gift from Allah was handed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when he made the blessed ascension to Heaven.

This was posted in the Comment section by the respected member of both the Forum and this website who posts by the name of The Hook. Always passionate, always to the point and never one to back down, we thought his comment here would stir the debate around change in the Madrassah.
Your comments for or against are welcome.

Do you still remember the first time you put your hijab on and left your house to go about your daily life? I’ve been wearing mine for three years now in May 2008, but remember putting it on and leaving for work like it was yesterday. I had never been so excited in my life yet was feeling slightly apprehensive too. Back then, I was working in retail on the weekends to support myself whilst studying at university, of all places Romford. People from East London or who are familiar with Romford probably understand why I say it like that, but will talk about it a little later.

After Asim Siddiqui said that ‘Political Islam’ was the problem, in his Comment is free article (also republished on the MPACUK website), Inayat Bunglawa decided to counter his argument. In one of the most read websites in Britain, Comment is free, the debate raged between Inayat and Asim Siddiqui. Below we re-print part of the debate and ask you to comment on it and who you agree with?

Lebanon's pluralism could teach the west much about religious tolerance, says Alex Klaushofer. These days I often feel caught between two fundamentalisms. On one side
is the trumpeting atheism of the liberal left that has come to be as
much a part of contemporary Britain as wet summers and late trains. It
pops up all over the place, at meetings and in pub conversations,
expressed in pithy comments that give the finger to God and assume a
cosy agreement among everyone present.

It’s not easy being awake - being aware of the suffering around us. You have to stand up to the evils you see inside of yourself and to all those evils around you that you see in your daily life. Not only that, you often have to take the slings and arrows of the very people you try to defend.

So why is it that the tabloid newspapers have become an authority on
Islam? In fact, why is it that non-Muslims are being educated about
Islam through this medium? Yup, we also have Muslims who fall for this
type of spin and the outcome is the Muslim apologist. He doesn’t really
know what the Islamic stance is and neither can he be bothered to find
out. All he knows is that it doesn’t sound right and so out pops an
apology.

Last week, The Independent on Sunday used a very striking image of a
woman in a veil on its front cover. The image was used in relation to a
story on Honour Killings, something which we found to quite disturbing. Considering that the story mentions women of many different faiths and
cultures who have been affected by this issue, we felt it was
inappropriate to link the story to the Muslim faith itself, through the
use of this image.

My involvement in the Black Students campaign began when I was expelled
from Matthew Boulton College for writing a politically charged
newsletter that called for more student representation on campus. Since then I have become a leading activist, campaigning on a broad
range of issues, from the fight against racism and the effects of
globalization on the worlds black community, to highlighting the
injustices of the so called ‘war on terror’.

As if the uncontrollable hate and hysteria from the usual tabloid suspects wasn’t damaging enough. I was dismayed to read Yasmin Ali-Bhai Brown’s quite ignorant rant in the Independent. She plays the ‘Muslim woman’ card but as a Muslim woman I don’t appreciate being “represented” by her on this issue. Secondly, she has no knowledge of basic Islamic doctrine let alone the complexities of Sharia and thirdly, I just wish she would do some research and not be so disingenuous.
