Just as I campaigned for boycotts against apartheid in South Africa
many years ago, now I shall do so against Israeli apartheid, says Colin
Green. The strong and hostile response from pro-Israeli groups, as well as the
UK government fearful of offending Israel, to a recent motion carried
by a two thirds majority at the University and College Union (UCU)
congress is in marked contrast to the joyful response of Palestinians,
which has been almost totally supportive.

So the news is that the Higher Education Minister Bill Rammell is going to visit the apartheid state and the Zionist illegally occupied territories. One wonders if he could have visited the civilian population of Palestine? People who are under military siege and brutal occupation by an apartheid state.

 This
week the racist regime of Israel
has backed a proposal to boycott Britain. In the proposal they have suggested that British made
products are stamped with the words “This country is involved in an anti-Israel
boycott”. The boycott itself was morally and ethically justified against
a state which is "worse than South Africa Apartheid" – Not our words but those of a South Africa Jewish activist.

Given the relative success of their Muslim minorities, why do so many
people in the UK and US seem so frightened of the Muslims in their
midst? Part of the answer, of course, lies in the foreign policies of
both countries, such as their roles in the war in Iraq. But surely a
fear of retribution for actions taken abroad cannot be the entire
answer.

Blair can no longer deny a link exists between terrorism and foreign policy. Rather than insisting on Muslims' own duty to integrate, British society must reconcile itself with its self-professed values. Let us look closely at recent developments in government policy toward Muslims. The British Muslim reaction to the July 7 attacks was exemplary, as Ken Livingstone pointed out, and this was a proof that they were well integrated into society. A policy of constructive engagement would have spared no effort to make the best of these tragic events.

Over the past week MPACUK has issued various
alerts to highlight the tragic milestone that is the 40th
anniversary of the 6 Day War. MPACUK is not alone in covering
this anniversary; Major News Corporation Al Jazeera is planning to air a
special documentary on 5th June called “ Operation Focus ” The documentary will explain the
truth behind the 6 Day War. It was not, as some incorrectly claim, a
pre-emptive strike but rather a well planned military offensive by Israel
against its Arab neighbours.

Tony Greenstein, a founding member of Palestine Solidarity Campaign and a member of Jews Against Zionism, writes a fantastic eye-opening piece whereby he exposes the UJS’s (Union of 'Jewish' Students) close connections with and loyalties to Israel. He vindicates MPACUK's clear and unequivocal stance on the tragedy of the Holocaust, despite the UJS and other pro-Israeli lobbies instigating smear campaigns.

 The
Mosque in Islam today can be much more than a place reserved
exclusively for worship. In some cities and towns (although they are
still too few), it is also a centre for
neighborhood events, civic gatherings, teaching, counseling and
lifelong learning. It can be a library and information centre as well,
acting as a storehouse of accessible knowledge for people of all ages.

The Palestine Rally in Sheffield last weekend went ahead successfully, despite attempts by the local Jewish Board of Deputies representative to lobby against the 'Celebration of Palestinian Culture' in Sheffield City Centre. According to the Jewish Telegraph, the representative, backed by the Israeli Embassy, the CST and Leeds Zionist Federation, contacted the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, the Council leader, the Bishop of Sheffield and the local MP, expressing concerns about the demonstration. The MPACUK Leeds team were at the event, and a new member reports back.

Palestinian supporters were dismayed at the lack of action taken by Muslim MP's who have not had the moral and ethical decency to sign the early day motion, in which a cross party of 77 British MP's from all religious backgrounds have signed the Early Day Motion condemning the racist state of Israel. So far Muhammed Sarwar MP (Glasgow Central) has had the ethics to stand up for what is right and to become a Member of Parliament who can be relied upon to take action to help those who are facing the threat of extinction by an occupying military power.

Muslim Americans are far more assimilated and
integrated into their adopted country than their counterparts in
Europe, according to the new Pew Research Center survey. The
survey, which was carried out by one of America's most respected
polling groups, found that Muslim Americans were just as likely as the
rest of the population to agree with quintessential American attitudes
about hard work and opportunity.

You don't tend to see British MP's working harder for the Racist State of Israel than they do for Britain. One of the honorary friends of the Conservative Pro-War-Israeli Lobby Nick Gibb MP is doing exactly that. Putting the interests of the apartheid state of Israel before those of Britain. Why exactly is an MP elected by the British people trying to stop British people from taking part in peaceful means of boycott against one of the worlds most brutal, racist states since the apartheid state?

Our community is under attack. We are being targeted by an enemy that
is so powerful it sways both media and governments. While this attack
against us is planned in the corridors of power around the world our
own leaders sadly fail to plan any form of defence. They do not
mobilise themselves nor mobilise the community. It seems our leadership not only does not understand how to protect us
and our rights both here in the UK but worse all too often actively
stops Muslim institutions from becoming the hub of our community’s
reform, revival and survival.

MPACUK recently asked Muslims to send a message of support to David
Cameron after he spent two days with a Muslim family. An unheard of act
by any high profile politician! Some ignorant Muslims complained it was a “PR Stunt”, what these
political un-savvy Muslims failed to realise is that over the last few
years, most politicians did PR stunts by locking us up without trial,
or creating ever more fear about us in their public statements!

Much has been written lately regarding Turkey’s apparent turn towards
political Islam. The incumbent government, the Justice and Development
Party (JDP) led by Prime Minister Erdoğan, has been repeatedly accused
of maintaining a surreptitious agenda of creeping “Islamisation”
inimical both to Turkey’s established secularism and its claim to
“European values”.

It has recently come to our attention that Masterfoods,
the company behind Mars, Maltesers and Bounty has started using animal rennet
in some of its products. Whilst we appreciate Masterfoods’ honesty and openness
regarding product labelling we also feel it’s important that they cater to the
needs of all communities in the UK.

Dr. Saud Al Hashimi and a number of his colleagues have been arrested in Saudi Arabia for simply advocating peaceful reforms to the political system. MPACUK are ready to support individuals and institutions fighting for the truth, whether the governments they challenge are of Muslim or non-Muslim countries. Further details about this issue can be read on the online petition.

Whether the Conservative’s increase in the vote last Thursday across the country is the start of the long march to Cameron being Prime Minister or just mid-term blues of a Labour government is something only time will tell. However, one thing is for certain, as electoral patterns over the last 30 year show, most of the electorate are staying with or switching between the two main parties and using the Lib-Dems as a protest vote.

It is no surprise that the scale of postal vote fraud in Birmingham was far greater than previously admitted. Everyone in Birmingham politics knows just how much the political system has been corrupted by the postal vote. The big decline in postal vote applications shows that large-scale organised fraud can be reduced by tighter rules and the threat of police raids at dawn. But no amount of regulation can prevent the more insidious corruption of the democratic process that the postal vote is responsible for.

As the shocking news of the conviction of five British Muslims for a planned terrorist attack in Britain breaks, people are already beginning to ask how on earth this was allowed to happen and why did it go unchecked for so long? The answer to the question is simple and it answers a third question which is far more relevant. How can we stop this from happening in the future?
