Muslim sister writes in desperately seeking help: “In a nutshell Sabar Brothers in Slough are selling Israeli dates - last time I got screamed at when I complained. When MPACUK helped with an Action Alert the shop-owners were abusive to others who called in and then went to the Jewish Chronicle to defend themselves.
John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations, told Tory
delegates today that efforts by the UK and the EU to negotiate with
Iran had failed and that he saw no alternative to a pre-emptive strike
on suspected nuclear facilities in the country. Mr Bolton, who was
addressing a fringe meeting organised by Lord (Michael) Ancram, said
that the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was "pushing out" and
"is not receiving adequate push-back" from the west.

Britain was accused
Saturday of having one law for Muslims and one law for others following
the conviction of a 27 year old primary school caretaker for carrying
out a nationwide letter bomb campaign. Miles Cooper was given an indeterminate sentence after being found
guilty of sending seven explosive devices containing nails and broken
glass, injuring eight people, and for having what police described as a
"bomb factory" in his home.

It is our duty to oppose oppression in every way possible and the boycotting of Israeli dates must not be overlooked as one method of doing so. We would like our readers to look out for Muslim shops selling Israeli products and encourage them to stop. "So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it." [Quran; Al-Zalzalah 99:7-8]
Walking around university today, I was really shocked by the responses of my fellow Muslim students in this blessed month. I was handing out leaflets which explained why Muslims shouldn't buy Israeli dates, because we shouldn't support an apartheid state that systematically kills Palestinians. Surprisingly, some Muslims were shocked that I was handing out leaflets "in this month". A sister then went ahead and explained that Muslims shouldn't get involved in politics or campaigns "in this month". What the hell does that even mean? (Yes, I said 'hell' "in this month")
''Regardless of the foreign policies of the United States, hostility to Iran is not in Britain's national interest. A constructive engagement with Iran offers many possibilities for progress,'' the Conservative Muslim Forum said in a new report. Britain's main opposition Conservative Party has been advised by its Muslim wing to adopt a realistic policy of engaging with Iran rather than scaremongering.
The anniversary of 9/11 each year brings with it sorrow for the many who lost loved ones and a time of reflection for many others. For journalists, it seems to have become almost a ritual in some quarters to use it as an opportunity to run alarmist headlines regarding the so called 'Islamist threat'. The Times, which has done its fair share of Muslim bashing over the years, headlined its Friday September 7 paper with an alarming, blatantly misleading and absolutely perplexing story which must give rise to concern from all British Muslims.
As the monks lead protests against the military regime in Burma, we should all be aware that they also protest on behalf of the oppressed Muslims of Burma. Muslim leaders estimated approximately
20% of the population was Muslim in 2006, making a total of 10 million Muslims.
IRAQ is burning. This is something even the most brazen of neocons
can’t deny. And given the extent of America’s woes in Iraq and the
intolerable heat the current occupant of the White House faces over
this war right now, you would think starting another war is the last
thing this administration would want.
An entire generation of Palestinians in Gaza is growing up stunted: physically and nutritionally stunted because they are not getting enough to eat; emotionally stunted because of the pressures of living in a virtual prison and facing the constant threat of destruction and displacement; intellectually and academically stunted because they cannot concentrate — or, even if they can, because they are trying to study and learn in circumstances that no child should have to endure.

Branded with
Israeli trademark "Bat Sheva", Israeli dates are flooding Moroccan
markets during the holy fasting month of Ramadan. "I found dates carrying Israeli trademark in the markets," Abdel-Jalil, a teacher, told IslamOnline.net Saturday, September 22. Trademarked "Bat Sheva" –
the Hebrew name of the town of Beersheba – the Israeli dates can been
seen in abundance on the shelves in eastern and central Morocco.
Last year, barrister Ali Naseem Bajwa, and solicitor Bernie Duke questioned the necessity, and efficacy, of the 28-day pre-charge detention powers. This article, sourced from the New Law Journal, documents their findings.
Everyone is always accusing the Palestinians of missing out on opportunities for peace. The worst Palestinian-bashing came after the Camp David summit in 2000, when late President Yasser Arafat supposedly sabotaged his people’s best chance at a Palestinian state and international recognition. Seven years later, the Palestinians are still feeling the backlash of that horrendous fallacy.
Everyday with the problems around us getting worse and worse, MPACUK have been holding our mosque leaders to account over their inaction. But why don't they seem to care about helping Muslims? MPACUK would like to hear your opinions about why this is the case, so please post any comments you have on this topic. We can no longer run away from this issue - we must face it head on, and we must face it now.
You know, now I finally understand what MPACUK have been blaring about the mosques all this time and they are totally right! I acknowledged that our mosques leaders had their faults but I always thought it couldn't be that bad, that perhaps they didn’t realise what we were saying...that if we were to explain something to them they would understand. I thought that it’s only some mosques that don’t listen and the majority of them would be there for the Muslim community but I can’t believe how wrong I was.
