The non-negotiables in any democratic society must be the prohibition on torture, the right to dissent, the right to privacy, freedom of speech, no detention without charge and being innocent until proven guilty. If we slowly dismantle these freedoms in the name of combating radical Islamists then we will eventually end up with a state that may well resemble one they would happily set up.

On June 2nd the Irish Independent reported that Labour T.D. Ruairi Quinn said "Irish girls do not wear headscarves" and he also advocated "assimilation" - in other words, a forced removal of cultures not considered Irish. In case that wasn't enough, Ruairi Quinn T.D. went on to make denigrating inferences regarding immigrants. Of course, his good friend, Brian Hayes (who is Fine Gael's spokesperson) didn't want to be beaten so he decided to warn of the dangers of multiculturalism.

MPACUK Comment: The usually excellent Jason Burke hits the nail on the head yet again. Mr Burke seems to approach the subject of extremism with a rare air of someone who is actually trying to discover the truth rather than the numerous commentators out there who seem to have some sort of political axe to grind.

The original headline of the following article from The Telegraph is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attacks Jews at UN food summit in Rome. This deliberate blurring of the definitions of Zionism and Judaism is a common Zionist propaganda technique which makes it easier to smear Isreal's critics as anti-Semitic.

MPACUK Comment: There should be no such thing as a ‘no-go area’ in Britain for anyone. Birmingham is vibrant multi-faith city and people of faith in particular, should always be considerate and cordial to one another. There are rumours that Christians are specifically targeting Muslims to convert them. This initiative, if true, will undoubtedly raise tension between the communities. It would be no different if Muslims stood outside a church or cathedral trying to convert Christians. Birmingham’s Muslims and Christians should remember their common values instead of engaging in a pointless numbers game.

Moves to allow Muslim clerics into classrooms to address pupils were condemned yesterday. The latest scheme put forward by Schools Secretary Ed Balls was greeted with derision. Critics branded the proposals by the under-fire minister unworkable and unnecessary.

MPACUK Comment: Yet another child dies in Britain in scenes one would
expect to have read about from the developing world or the potato
famine. Khyra Ishaq, a seven year old, starved to death in Birmingham
in 2008. This story should shock us all. Of course her parents are the
prime suspects but the failing of young Khyra goes further. Where were
the social services for example? Tragically Khyra is not the first
child to perish through lack of action by professionals paid to protect
them. An old African saying goes “it takes an entire village to raise a
child” and this is true in any country. What were her neighbours doing?
Her extended family? How could her abuse go unnoticed? Her death shames
us all.

MPACUK Comment: He’s at it again. The BNP’s favourite man of the cloth, Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali is stirring up religious hatred as usual. In a fashion that has become the Bishop’s hallmark he writes in the Islamophobes’ favourite broadsheet, The Daily Telegraph, that Christianity is on the wane and that radical Islam could fill the vacuum. This is in keeping with the Bishop’s modus operandi of making unsubstantiated claims against Islam and then standing back to let hatred increase. The Church authorities should either back or sack this hate-monger.

There are currently over 150 muslims imprisoned within the United
Kingdom whom have been arrested for alleged terrorism and related
offences. Often their rights are violated, their families humiliated,
and in some cases they have been seriously assaulted. There cannot be
one Muslim prisoner in the United Kingdom who has not suffered
physical, verbal abuse or harassment.

Article By The Public :
So, So, they tell me I am now a suicide bomber. (Yikes! Has that immediately earned me an M15 trace?) Or rather a would-be suicide bomber (still the M15 trace threat). Well that's what people think since I became a Muslim, and I do come,
admittedly, from that hotbed of Islamic terrorism, the West Country.
Yes, I was born in Plymouth and once visited Exeter, so that, of
course, gives me the profile of a potential terrorist. It's thick with
it down there.

 Bismillah ir rahman ir raheem
I have just read your site relating to Media Jihad (as I subscribe to the email...Jazak alla khair for that) and wonder if there is a way to get 'terrorism' categorised the way it was during the Northern Ireland troubles...Why do we give more 'free' publicity to the 'fundamentalists' when that is not what they are..they are terrorists....

A Muslim elder who stabbed his neighbour in the back was dramatically cleared of murder yesterday after a court was told that he had endured a living hell of racism, threats and violence. Habib Khan, 50, of Stoke-on-Trent, was found guilty of the manslaughter of Keith Brown, 52, a BNP activist and an alleged friend of the BNP leader, Nick Griffin, who attended his funeral.

"There is not a single trace of me ever being anything more than a friend of Israel and a friend of the Jewish people"
"If you get one of these e-mails that says I'm a Muslim: not true"
Democrat Barack Obama explained the roots of his unusual name, listed some of his Jewish friends and voiced support for Israel on Thursday during a synagogue visit designed to shore up Jewish support for his U.S. presidential bid.
