Booted Off For Speaking Arabic!

Passengers on a Manchester-bound flight have described how two men were removed from the plane because other travellers thought they were speaking Arabic. Heath Schofield, a passenger on the flight from Malaga, described it as being a "bit like Chinese whispers". Monarch Airlines said passengers had demanded the men were removed because they were acting suspiciously.

Israel 'breaks' ceasefire - No UK Condemnation

The ceasefire in Lebanon was holding by a thread last night after Israel sanctioned a commando raid in the east of the country. Kofi Annan, the United Nations secretary general, said Israel had violated the truce, and he was 'deeply concerned' about it. But the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, claimed that the attack was intended to prevent the supply of new weapons and ammunition to Hizbollah.

If Schools Are Failing To Teach About Drugs - What About Our Masajids?

Schools are failing to warn children of the dangers of drugs and alcohol and are not focusing enough attention on the emotional aspects of sex, the education watchdog, Ofsted, said today. Ofsted's latest survey considered 18 primary, secondary and special schools, which were chosen for their health policies. Inspectors also used evidence from 102 other school inspections for the report, which covered issues including school sport, meals and sex education.

G8 accused of failing Africa over Aids funds

UN special envoy Stephen Lewis yesterday accused the G8 countries of betraying Africa by their failure to find the money to fulfil their Gleneagles promise on the treatment, care and prevention of Aids. In a speech at the international Aids conference in Toronto, Mr Lewis said that African governments attempting to treat their citizens were struggling with the cost and their chief fear was that the money from donor countries would dry up.

The EU is looking to introduce resources and methods for airlines to provide advance information about the passenger by creating a ‘profiling-system’ on those worthy of scrutiny. For 34 days they doggedly fought off the mighty Israeli army. But as a three-day-old ceasefire gathers traction, Hizbullah's hardened fighters are swapping their missile launchers for spades, brooms and briefcases of cash. "We want to bring south Lebanon back to life and rebuild it better than it was before the war," said Nabil Kaouk, Hizbullah's top official in southern Lebanon.

John Prescott faced further embarrassment last night after it was claimed that he had described George Bush as "crap" in a private meeting with Labour MPs. The deputy prime minister criticised the US president when he met six backbenchers to discuss the terror crisis on Tuesday. Harry Cohen, MP for Leyton and Wanstead, told the Independent Mr Prescott had called Mr Bush "crap".

IDF General: Troops Lacking Food Can Steal From Lebanese Stores

“If our fighters deep in Lebanese territory are left without food our water, I believe they can break into local Lebanese stores to solve that problem,” Brigadier General Avi Mizrahi, the head of the Israel Defense Forces logistics branch, said Monday. The Bush administration scored a major victory Thursday in its efforts to criminally prosecute journalists and others involved in the leaking and reporting of classified information. A federal district court in Virginia refused to dismiss a criminal indictment brought by the Bush Justice Department under the Espionage Act of 1917 against two former employees of the American-Israeli Political Action Committee (AIPAC), who are alleged to have received classified information from a former Bush defense department official, and then passed it on to a journalist and an Israeli diplomat.
