Media Jihad

Assalaamualaikum and welcome to Ummah This Week. My name is Noor-Houda and today I will be speaking about Muslims in the Media. Whether we like to admit it or not the media directly affects our lives, it influences our opinions and tastes and it penetrates our subconscious - we are all affected by the media.   

There are four methods available to us that can make us effective lobbyists: email, letter writing, phone calls and meetings. We will need to choose the method which best suites the situation at hand. It is the involvement and active participation that can influence people’s opinions and as Muslims, we have numerical supremacy. Unfortunately, we have yet to use this to our advantage.

Islamophobia is prejudice or discrimination against Islam and/or Muslims. In 1997, the Runnymede Trust stated that the term also refers to the practice of discriminating against Muslims by excluding them from the economic, social, and public life of the nation.
