I
genuinely thought that it was a joke when Tony Blair was first touted
as a Middle East peace envoy. At best it must've been an initiative to
massage his ego, nothing more. Even he can't be deluded enough to think
he can make a positive difference.
Then it gathered momentum. Last week's Question Time pondered his
suitability, and many concluded it didn't matter what the Arabs thought
of it - he's a good man in our view and that's all there is to it. This
was the same week where Pakistan were told to stop interfering in UK
internal affairs, as if we always mind our own business.
Blair will have as much success and impact in the role as his own
Middle East envoy in the last decade, Lord Michael Levy. Either Blair
is extremely biased or he's extremely limited. Probably both. Last
summer he couldn't get his head round calling for both a ceasefire of
Israel's Lebanon bombardment, and looking for a longterm solution
to the problem. It was one or the other for him.
Like
Levy, he'll have nice cups of tea with his Israeli friends, and be
uncomfortable with anything the Palestinians have to say. It has been
forgotten that it was because of Lebanon that Blair is being shunted
out of office. My only regret is that he wasn't pushed at that time
last year. There would have been no Parliamentary standing ovation at
that point. Instead he set his timetable and was allowed to leave with
unprecedented adulation today in the Commons. Anyone still think
Parliament is representative?
UPDATE: Just heard that the SNP MPs did not join in the ovation. Good.

I was actually hoping he would walk out of the House of Commons and be arrested for War Crimes but sadly I was left disappointed. As for the new job he has been given by his master Bush, I cannot see him being truly unbiased, ever. With his record of wanting to mix with the rich and famous, seeking the limelight, Iraq and his lack of response to last years invasion of Lebanon. I fail to see how he can have the right credentials for the job. He will remain Bush's poodle.
Actually I think WAR CRIMINAL Blair has been demoted from Bush's poodle to Schwarzenegger worm.
This is Democracy: where a man whose policies have resulted in the murder of millions is allowed not only to walk free, but get a job as a peacemaker!
Surah Bakarah, Verse 11 & 12, Holy Quran states: 'And when it is said to them"make not not mischief on the earth", they say:"We are only peace-makers." Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they percieve not.
positive thinking again is required we (those against the occupation should take advantage of the fact that we have tony blair within reach to communicate and the recent changes to the government cabinet gordon brown has called for people who left the party sir Mark Malloch Brown who was a critic on the war and John Denham who also resigned cause of the war, STRONG COMMUNICATION is required we the public can change future actions as we have leaders at the mainstream at the centre, Blair should call out to the muslim community and act on soft power to deliver democracy and a stable economic system.

We know too well the views of “many”. To them 500,000 dead Iraki babies was:
Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?
Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price–we think the price is worth it.

Above is The sickening repulsive, disgusting standing that “many” took WITHOUT any remorse or an apology.

Some people would like to tell us that
Tony Blair were "not so bad" after all ....!!!
and they point out that he brought
Peace to Northern-Ireland....
I would remind those people that :
1- it took 300 years to achieve that North-Irish- Peace
while Tony is only 54 years old...
and only 10 years as PM.
2- Tony Blair (and Britain) were anyhow and already 50% of that
same problem.
So Tony has had to solve only the other 50%
which was dependant anyhow on his own 50%
which makes it a 25% effort and results..........
3- any Peace is a "temporary state of mind"
unless it is preceded and followed-up by Justice .
So let wait and see if there will be also Power-sharing solutions
in Lebanon
in Iraq
in Palestine
in Afghanistan
