rammell.jpgWill Rammell Get The IDF Treatment?

So the news is that the Higher Education Minister Bill Rammell is going to visit the apartheid state and the Zionist illegally occupied territories. One wonders if he could have visited the civilian population of Palestine? People who are under military siege and brutal occupation by an apartheid state.

The BBC reports that the visit to the apartheid state follows a democratic vote by the UCU academic union to boycott Israeli Universities which have turned a blind eye to the brutalities of the apartheid Israeli regime.

In a hypocritical statement Mr Rammell said that he supported academic freedom, but not the democratic freedom of choice of the Palestinian people to choose their own leader, or children's freedom to live without being held as human shields. We could go on and it would take us 40 years to list the crimes against the Palestinian people.

At its annual conference last week, the UCU backed the motion urging it to consider the "moral implications" of links with Israeli universities.  It condemned Israel for its "denial of educational rights" to Palestinians and said "passivity or neutrality was unacceptable" in the special circumstances of the Israeli occupation.

It's good to see Rammell going to the Apartheid State but does anyone really think that he's going there for peace as long as the lobby is at work hindering any chance of peace in the middle east?

We just hope that Rammell does not get the same treatement as the other visiting members of the British Parliment who got a first-hand glimpse of IDF tactics when one of them got shot at in Rafah even though he arrived in a clearly marked UN vehicle. The three British MPs, surrounded by 20 children got shot at in the presence of UN officials, which led to a demand for an investigation by the MPs into the IDF’s “outrageous behaviour” bordering on “lunatic”. One of the MPs, Crispin Blunt, concluded “If they are prepared to do this to people who come out of two clearly marked UN cars, what do they do when there is no one there?” He added “They are building up levels of hatred that will take decades, if not centuries, to erase."

Lets just hope he doesn't. I very much doubt he is there for peace but to huddle up to the pay masters.

Rammel is a vile Islamophobe who joined in attacking sisters who choose the niqab. How many Muslims live in Harlow? He has a majority of 92.
