Where were the Muslims? Print E-mail

ahmedasaasah.jpgThe huge non muslim majority was fantastic to see- that it's not just muslims who care about injustice to muslims. Rather, that the fact that we are all human and want for nobody to suffer was the bond that united all those who were present.

However, my shame lies in the fact that of about 600 people who attended, I could probably count the number of muslims on one hand, and Sheffield has a substantial muslim community.

How can this be? If the Ummah is one body, then why, when OUR body is getting hacked to peices, is there such a poor showing of solidarity from the muslims?? The Ummah will bleed to death at this rate, and apparently the Ummah doesn't care!

This point made me question my own thinking... The Palestinian cause is OUR cause isnt it? Or is it? At its essence, it is not the clash of two Abrahamic civilisations, or of non-nuclear versus nuclear weaponary. At its core, the basic truth is that this a HUMANITARIAN crisis. As was pointed out by Claire Short MP: "When Nelson Mandela visited the West Bank and saw how the palestinians lived, he was asked how this compared to life under apartheid in South Africa. He replied "Ours was a picnic compared to what the palestinians are enduring". Regardless of creed/religion/ethnicity, its about whether a mother can send her kids to school without worrying about whether they might get arrested/shot on the way. Its about a father who worries that there is no water to quench the thirst of his family.

So why then, does the Ummah not care about its fellow human beings? Think about this, next time you decline charity to a non-muslim organisation!

I learnt a lot about the conflict today. That Palestinians are living in shacks and shanty towns in 'settlements' on land thats been wrongfully seized. Not only are they living in abject poverty, but they die of thirst as the water in the region gets pumped to huge greenhouses on land that used to be theirs. What's in these greenhouses? Fruit and veg, 60 % of which gets exported to the UK. The 5 a day campaign is all very well, but at the expense of how many Palestinian lives? Unless we check it's not Israeli our health will be at the expense of that of our brothers and sisters.

A day of unity and of tragedy. United with fellow human beings, who feel pain the same way you & I do when we see the ruthless tanks crushing inhabited Palestinian homes. But the tragedy is that not all of us feel this pain, despite the fact that it's our body, our brotherhood, our family thats being terrorised.

Firstly I did not know about the march, secondly if you wanted a larger number of Muslims to turn out maybe you should have handed out leaflets at the local mosque to inform people of the march and secondly it would be a good idea to record these protests and put them on the website or you tube.

I agree with MPAC the mosque leaders should encourage people to protest against Israeli apartheid.

It maybe a good idea to do something controversial like storm the Israeli embassy to get attention. I will have to find a bullet proof vest 1st!!

I live in Scotland so I was unable to attend, though I will definitely attend the Enough campaign in Edinburgh on June the 9th.

Has MPAC considered using an online raffle to raise money for the organisation?

(Just a thought)

Marching and Protesting is the first step it can NOT be the only steps we take on the pathway to Palestinian justice.

Please read MPACUK's various article on media monitoring and joining and participating in mainstream political parties ("of Consequence").

Ricky
- an extremely good point which I have tried a number of times.

Guess what?

The governments anti-Islam pro- Terrorism Israel DEPARTMENT to scare off the e transaction companies that the funds are going to Palestinians who according to EU authorities ARE Terrorists. Since they give out the licence for the e-transactions and the companies give damn all for the innocent they refuse raffle.

Yet the UN, the dictatorial, fascist, racists, worthless organisation, can collect money to Humiliate and starve the Palestinians with their kosherwood class D-list of actor/ess.

I decided to sell the object privately without any "middleperson" and gave a discount to the person buying.
How's that? I say f%&* you and try to help individuals on a person to person basis.

HUMAN-BUTTONS

Part1

This campaign is about Human beings, Democracy, UNHCR, Refugees, The Iraqis, Islam, Kurds, Human rights, Respect, Money, Donations, Angelina Jolie, Pavarotti, Giorgio Armani, Donors, Peace, History, Campaigns and about you if you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS').

This is my newest campaign, it’s about the illegal and humiliating actions of the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about these pictures:

Notice how they used the same human-button with different colors to fit the background of their pages! For them it’s artwork and for us it’s humiliation.

There is an Arabic song for an Egyptian singer, she sings: “With all the languages in the world, I’m loving you”.

The UNHCR singing for refugees: “With all the languages in the world, I’m humiliating you”. For those who don’t see song in their native language, please contact the UNHCR and demand for song in your native language. It’s national pride, don’t miss it!
