Flash Back: A Tale of Two Cities Print E-mail
Friday, 17 March 2006

I saw the headlines recently - a bomb blast in Haifa. Shocking; the death; the destruction; the blood. The women screaming, the innocent looking shoe. Wow, horrible. Terror. And then my mind switched to the agenda. Israel had used this martyrdom operation as a media excuse. Israel is playing using the lives of its own children in a sick game of media spin. Why are camera crews told to focus on women? Why is the human angle with names and aspiration told to us?

A few days ago there was a Palestinian woman. She had a name. She, had aspirations, hopes, dreams, she was human. I use the word was, carefully; Let me tell you about her.

Her name was Nuhi Maqadama. She was a housewife who lived with her extended family. She lived in a town called Buruji. Her aspirations in life were as most people’s are; to live in peace and improve her lot, she wanted to see her children grow up, get married get educated, she laughed, she cried, she cooked and she must have, on occasions, been unreasonable. After all she was human.

I wonder what her dreams were when she bled to death waiting for an ambulance; I wonder what she was thinking about, her children, her in-laws, her family, and the hereafter? Maybe a higher cause, maybe she was thinking “If this is one more life to get freedom for Palestine then I gladly give it”.

Maybe, though I doubt it very much. I think she was thinking; if she was conscious, (as the media never reported it- we don’t know). “Allah, help me not for me but for my nine month old baby, that’s due in 10 days time.” I think she was thinking “Oh Allah let me die I can’t stand the pain of being crushed!” I think her aspirations were to live at that moment, at that moment when the angel of death arrives you’re in Allah’s hands, but until then your mind is alive and death is not welcome. The ambulance didn’t arrive as the Israeli army stopped them.

Funny isn’t it how many of us knew that. Yes in the liberal press it was reported and in a few smatterings of BBC reports; but now compare that with the bombing of Haifa. See the panic, see the fear, and see the devastation. Israel will use this as an opportunity to impress on the world how important and how akin they are to the West in their constant war against terrorists. They will make the link between Islam and Terror.

And all the while we wring our hands, and cup our heads and cry a bit. We talk a good talk but the BBC will still carry on being biased, B-Sky-B and the Telegraph will still push a one-sided view, influencing opinion and policy. And we gnash our teeth and feel helpless.

Our only weapon is our mind and we have allowed it o become dull. When we most need to use it we don’t. We haven’t been trained and we haven’t been exposed to our sister Nuhi’s death. Well the truth is we have chosen not to be exposed, we have chosen to hide, and we have chosen not to donate.

And I for one don’t just blame the Israelis I blame the Muslims in equal measure. The Israeli kill and manipulate the media, and we sit by. MPACUK asks for funding and we neither get help nor money. Nuhi died while nine months pregnant and we watch the news reports promoting Israeli loss as if it’s greater than the Palestinian’s loss. As an Ummah stop asking MPACUK to stop criticizing, Ask Nuhi what she would say, and ask yourself how many more Nuhi’s have to die before you fund us so we can stop UK tax money supporting Israel or UK media fighting the Israelis propaganda War.

Are you saying that the suicide bombing is a timely reminder to fund MPAC, and that it is the Israelis who use these attacks for spin? That is a very bad way to respond. The sarcasm at the beginning of the article shows just how little you care about anything other than your own tiny little world and your tiny little opinion.

You are inhuman and one-sided and should be deeply ashamed.

It is not reported that the insurgent attack was as a result of Israeli attacks in the Gaza strip. I see little difference between the two attacks except that (a) at least the insurgent attacker is prepared to die in the process, whilst the zionist attacker remains safe in his machine, and (b) the insurgent attacker is under occupation, whilst the zionists keep him that way. 'Israel' welcomes resistance attacks surely, as the policies of the zionist state ensure that they keep on happening.

Once again MPAC makes excuses for vile, vile killings. Noone is excusing the occupation or how at times, some soldiers in the IDF operate.

If MPAC really want to help end the bloodshed (and by that I mean end the occupation) this is NOT the way to do it.

MPAC must not call suicide bombers part of a 'martydom operation.' MPAC MUST call it for what it is - mass murder. Do not excuse something when it is wrong. Say it is wrong with nothing else. You point out the mistakes and wrong the IDF and the occupationers make every day. Do the same here.

You managed to say it about Al-Mahujaran. Do it again now. All you do with this article is discredit yourselves and make it seem like you are supporting more suicide bombings.

Ant Patterson, do you even remeber when nuhi was murdered? Why does MPACUk need to condemn what has happened? I don't see the UJS, JBOD, Totally Jewish condieming the killing of 16 childrens in a spcae of 2 Weeks Alone.

Don't ask for condemnation if you can't condemn yourself.

No, Bilal, the terrorist acts (suicide bombers) are not a result of Israeli attacks ion the Gaza strip. they are a result of Arab terrorism against Jews dating back to 1886. these attacks have never ceased.

Why should zionist murderers apologise for the lives of Arabs when they deem Arabs as expendable? The Arabs are only giving the zionists what they wish for - if Arab lives are so expendable, then they might as well spend them by killing as many of the enemy as possible. For the Arabs, this is their one limited way of making their lives count in an otherwise unbearable situation. The shame of it is that these Arabs have to kill themselves in the process. If only the Arab and Muslim nations gave the Palestinians the equipment to match the machinery of war that the zionists possess, then it would be an even match.

I'm not sure who Nuhi is - maybe you can tell us a bit more. Secondly, I'm not sure about you're figure of 16 children either.

You've also named 3 organsiations UJS, the Board of Deputies and Totally Jewish. I'm NOT a member of any of the three and theres fundermental differences between them and MPAC. Firstly, MPAC is a political body that lobies heavily on behalf of the Palestinian cause.

UJS, whilst being involved in political work, have never taken a line on any part of the conflict beyond signing a joint statement with the General Union of Palestinian students calling for a 2-state solution. Putting Totally Jewish there is just stupid, as they are a media agency and merely report. The Board of Deputies on the other hand are political, but rarely comment on issues in Israel. If you look at their website you'll see they haven't even mentioned yesterday's bombing.

MPAC on the other hand HAVE chosen to place themselves directly in the middle of the media spotlight. On top of that they HAVE decided to comment on what happened yesterday. If they decide to do so, they must therefore condemn it out right - if nothing else for the good of the Palestininan people.

People who demand condemnation and apologies should not get what they expect, since any condemnation or apology ought to be voluntary and sincere. Since they themselves would never dream of doing so when missiles and bombs from helicopters slam into refugee camps, it is only fair that they are asked what they demand of others. And they should only demand it if it was the Arabs who were shoving Jews into refugee camps, stealing their land, their resources, and then bombing them from a great height, and not the other way round. Until then, they should expect only more resistance attacks.

Jay, what “history” are you coming out with now, every actual religion has been stabbed in the back by zionism & so what if any settlers got their own medicine at the end of the last 1800’s!! It were murderers by definition (settlers), they got 0% of its own medicine. Your kind has no history that is why you make it up as you go along.

There is a reason for the presence of the IDF in the disputed territories. they are there as a result of a war in 1967, triggered by the illegal closure of an international waterway, as recognised by international law; the massive buildup of Arab forces along Israel's borders, and the wholly irresponsible decision of the UN to withdraw forces and monitors from the sinai, at the behest of dictator Nasser.Meanwhile, one of the elements of UN Resolution 242 remains the injunction to all parties to restrain from issuing threats, including the threat to use force. This is the part of the resolution that the Arabs have studiously avoided since 1967. They are, therefore, in continuous and continual breach of UN Reso 242.

The establishment of israel was non binding resolution, remember the West dragged the rest of the world into a war called “WW2”. Thus israel has no international legitimacy.
Considering the nazis (a well known fact that zionists were working openly with their invention) put in puppet regimes based on zionist principles & that the UK had a large amount of troops in Palestine, your lies & excuses are becoming more farcical every day.
As pointed out before, the West came running in after israel attacked twice, once in 1973 for cutting off the water supply of the Semites & in 1967 after it attacked & murdered a bus load of school children. golda meyer stood next to a nuclear bomb & said “we are about to make the ultimate sacrifice, unless the West helps us we will start by dropping a nuclear bomb on European capitals, then American cities”. This threat is still valid today as it regularly says this. The Egyptians destroyed your “armed forces” in 2 HOURS & “air force” in 2 DAYS. They got all the way to tel aviv. This was even admitted by Rabin!! Then the West came running in to fight for israel that is in breeach of almost 100 UN resolutions.
