A MUSLIM woman has been awarded nearly £35,000 after she suffered an 18-month campaign of racial and sexual discrimination at Europe’s largest mosque. The “spiteful” treatment of Nahid Mahmoud, a secretary at the Islamic Cultural Centre and Central Mosque in Regent’s Park, London, amounted to an “exploitation of the weakness of women in Islamic culture”, an employment tribunal was told.
Mrs Mahmoud was accused by a senior member of staff of fraud, black magic, bullying, using dirty words and “wasting valuable office hours in idle conversation”. Readers have left 6 comments.

Muslim organizations and companies should be very wary as to whom they employ. There are Trojan horses out there waiting to infiltrate Islamic organizations. Judging on appearance is very deceptive, better to judge on individual's actions. Beard and scarf does not prove someone is a Muslim, whom has good intention for the particular religion.
Anyway coming back to this story, this is a simple case of maltreatment in the workplace. Unfortunately employees are sometime wronged in the work place and when it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt then the victim should be compensated. I do not know why the Times, is so keen in highlighting this particular story. Have you ever read anything good in the times newspaper related to Islam and Muslims?

Commenting on the contribution :
"Judge Not On Appearance". Confucius is a revered Chinese philosopher who lived 100's of years ago. The following quote about him is also taken from The Times: "" Confucius had decided views on women. He once said: “Women and people of low birth are very hard to deal with. If you are friendly with them, they get out of hand, and if you keep your distance, they resent it.” By contrast, Chairman Mao said: “Women hold up half the sky.” "" Perhaps The Times should not have been permitted to print this information either! Nor should it have been permitted to mention the written letter evidence of the unpleasant attitudes against the sister in some quarters in the mosque. The correspondent is over-defensive to the point of hitting out at all and sundry in a "polite ( and no doubt low-voiced) manner". He/she would do well to know that many Muslims are as dismayed that this disrimination took place at Regents' Park Mosque as they are that it had to be published, just as other high profile cases about discrimination "in the work place" get published. The correspondent should perhaps also train his/her gaze to penetrate more deeply: clearly, according to the findings of the court-case and according to the imagery he/she used, there was at least one (male)"Trojan horse" already residing in the mosque at the time of the sister's employment( ie. the person/ persons who made her life a misery). This is a cause of sadness for most Muslims about the condition of our ummah, not a reason for attacking Rupert Murdoch's newspaper! Please note: The sister could not have been a Trojan Horse, if anything, she would have been a 'Trojan Mare' and there are NO ancient Greek myths about those. It seems that the correspondent and any Trojan horses already in the mosque suffer from a severe case of Nisaphobia - fear and dislike of women. This is sad, because it fuels Islamophobia and is a betrayal of the Final Messenger to Mankind, Muhammad, SAW, who taught love, kindness, respect and justice for women.

RE: Khadeja Khan:
Wow! that was a great INPUT from yourself. Whether the OUTPUT matches your input that remains to be seen. We had Mao, and Confucius quoted: not interested in either; Confucius is confusing and Mao is appalling. I do not know if you had read my comment carefully. For your benefit only; I will highlight the area which categorically isolates this incidence from the comment: "Anyway coming back to this story, this is a simple case of maltreatment in the workplace. Unfortunately employees are sometime wronged in the work place and when it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt then the victim should be compensated." The Times remains one of the the most Islamaphobic paper out there, so have a blast quoting things from there.

Thanks Judge for your comments.
I would not disagree with you about the attitude of The Times newspaper towards issues concerning Muslims. I would, though, see the Times newspaper as " out here" rather than "out there" because I am a British citizen and do not see myself as dwelling in an enclave outside of which the Times newspaper operates. It remains sad that sometimes Muslims provide such news media with just the gunpowder they are after in order to fire their cannons at us. You also do well to warn Muslims that non-Muslims are quite capable of dressing up in beards and hijabs and pretending to be Muslims and then becoming "undercover agents/reporters" for some hostile entity or other. But is this a problem if we have nothing to hide and in fact wish to invite people to Islam?! In the current climate it is, to put it mildly, irritating to see you appear to be one of those who seem to see Muslim women in mosques as some kind of fifth column. This is where my sensitivity lies. It is based on years of experience.
