You can throw in a couple of Hiroshimas (the Iranians would be advised to torch every single oil facility in the entire region to yield them NOTHING & hasten the downfall of the USA nuke fascist regime), if the natives continue being restless; BEFORE moving onto bigger targets like Pakistan, China etc.

Iran is being attacked because it aims to be independent economically and politically of any US influence. In that sense, for the US, Iran is very dangerous because it provides a role model for others in the region. As long as Iran continues to undermine the dollar economically (by replacing it in it's basket of oil selling currencies) then it remains a threat to the US. Therefore this issue only concerns nuclear energy insofar as it allows Iran to sell it's oil in any currency apart from the dollar.
