An early day motion (EDM), a petition which is signed by MPs, was raised celebrating Israel achievements, on 07/05/2008 by Andrew Dismore, MP of Hendon. EDM 1508 “congratulates the state on reaching this important milestone and looks forward to many more anniversaries in the years to come; acknowledges that Israel is a vibrant democracy founded on the principles of liberty, justice and freedom.” It currently holds 85 signatures. The Palestinian Catastrophe-Nakbah On 06/05/08, a day before the EDM was raised congratulating Israel, Richard Burden, MP for Birmingham Northfield, raised EDM 1484, which “notes that there are over 250,000 internally displaced Palestinians inside Israel who have also not been allowed to return to their homes; further notes that over 530 Palestinian villages and towns were destroyed in that period and that Palestinian refugees have not been compensated for the loss of their property...” This EDM holds 59 signatures. What does all of this mean? The above facts speak for themselves. The fact that EDM 1508 states Israel was founded on principles of liberty, justice and freedom is a complete LIE. It was founded through ethnic cleansing and death and destruction to Palestinians. Every time a racist ideology causes death and suffering, we should applaud it. Surely that can’t be right? If it was then we would have congratulated South Africa when it tortured its Black residents and slavery would never have been abolished. The only reason the above were stopped was due to an uprising of strong people. In order to put a stop to the world celebrating the destruction of Palestine in 1948, we need to rise and take control. What can you do? I have written to my local MP asking him if he intends to sign EDM 1484. To check if your MP has already signed click here. If your MP has signed, forward them a letter congratulating them. Great work like this needs applauding. If your MP is not on the list, write to them asking if they intend to sign the EDM and why they should be commemorating the Nakbah. Your MP may be one of the 85 who has signed EDM 1508. Click here to check. If your MP is on this list, send them a letter of complaint outlining your concern and urge them to sign EDM 1484 instead. For a list of local MPs and their email addresses visit www.theyworkforyou.com Take Action Now Your MP has a duty to you. It is in his/her best interest to do what you ask of them. And as the saying goes “if you don’t ask, you don’t get.” So ask away and lobby your MPs. Let’s make a difference and help those in Palestine who can’t help themselves. What about the Jews kicked out of Arab countries losing their homes and businesses. 1,000,000 of them. They were never compensated, and they never had UNWRA`s help. Don't forget Jordan was 80% of Palestine, and you never mention that.

James,
Hello Hello, is any body home? Palestine and what the media refer to as Israel are also Arab countries!!! So, the question is where do the modern day Jews actually come from? The answer is Europe! So, why don’t they just leave the peaceful and innocent Palestinian alone, in peace!!!

Raja's comments are offensive nonsense (plus ca change on Mpacuk).
Asking where the modern day Jews come from is a dreadfully racist question. The 1 million or so that were expelled fromArab countries camse from those countries. Were non-Muslims to ask the same question of Muslims in the West they would be accused of Xenophobia. Were I to adopt your last sentence with the necessary changes re Muslims in the West) it would be reminiscent of the old National Front (and underlying ethos of the BNP).

James, — RajaHello Hello, is any body home? Palestine and what the media refer to as Israel are also Arab countries!!! So, the question is where do the modern day Jews actually come from? The answer is Europe! So, why don’t they just leave the peaceful and innocent Palestinian alone, in peace!!! What do you suggest to do with the Jews and Christians in Israel? Another final solution? You weren't alive in 1948 nor were 80% of the people living in Gaza and the West Bank. The way forward is a two state solution, which cannot be achived until political stability is achieved between the polarising voices of Fatah and Hamas. What about the modern day 70,000 Iranian Jews who fled in the 1970s do they get their land back. Look towards the future and realistic possibilities rather than the destruction of Israel, which you have never been to or understand the situation facing both sides. Why can't Syria, Lebanon or Jordan take the Palestinains in? Because they benefit from having an enemy!

60 years ago the sate of Israel was created. The world has been
celebrating this event and Presidents, Prime ministers and local MP’s
have congratulated Israel on its achievements. The creation of Israel
and the celebrations taking place across the world have been covered on
a huge scale by the national media.
