Fox News commentator and right-wing blogger, Michelle Malkin, commented that wearing the keffiyeh akin to showing solidarity with "Muslim extremists" who wore such attire in beheading videos! Malkin's use of language is very clever, as by implication, she's accused anyone who wears these scarves of supporting extremism. To get a better understanding of how the media uses language as a weapon, we recommend reading Unspeak by Steven Poole. Readers have left 4 comments.

of course the wearing of the keffiyeh could just as easily represent the struggle for the freedom of identity and the struggle for freedom from persecution by neo conservative - zionists .
the scarf represents whatever you want it to represent so dont let others define it for you and dont let others lead you into blind alleys so that you can get beaten up over it because they have prior access to the media. you have to set the agenda.

So true Wendy. I do see it as a symbol of bravery and struggle by a very brave people. May be that's what they are afraid of. They are extremely cunning people. They know thay can not leave any room in peoples minds that the Palestinians are anything but terrorists! If you allow even a tiny room for doubt or question, every thing they've built up (lies and propaganda) will crumble.

A nice trick they played. They already set an agenda. Now, they OFFICIALLY made the keffiyeh as a sign of terroism.
First the ban of some commercial due to a woman wearing a keffiyeh and at that one was one heck of a message, right to the subconscious minds of the people. Sure know what they're doing if they want to incite hatred.

Let's face it, the US is run by those who detest Muslims and Arabs. What we see is only a fraction of the hate that burns inside them.
